Resumo: A proposta do artigo é analisar as transformações históricas que singularizam a atuação dos médicos no Brasil, dos tempos coloniais, até o início do século XX. Observa-se que a medicina colonial se desenvolveu em meio ao descrédito da população e escassez de recursos, ao passo que durante o período monárquico essa situação tendeu a sofrer importantes transformações. Iniciado o século XX, os médicos, além de dividirem-se em várias especialidades, assumiram a missão de regenerar a raça.
ResumoO trabalho analisa oito retratos fotográ-ficos pertencentes a um álbum de família alemão, sete dos quais datados dos tempos da Primeira Guerra Mundial (1914)(1915)(1916)(1917)(1918). As fotografias são abordadas como documentos e monumentos, de forma a evidenciar mudanças operadas na percepção do conflito, a partir de uma narrativa construída sob sua inspiração. AbstractThe paper explores eight portraits of a German family album. Seven portraits dated the times of Great World War (1914)(1915)(1916)(1917)(1918). The portraits are addressed as documents and monuments to reveal changes in the perception of conflict through the writing of a narrative related to selected photographs. Resumo: O ensaio analisa as representações da cantora de ópera Lina Cavalieri transmitidas por intermédio de cartões-postais fotográficos produzidos nos tempos da Belle Époque, em contraposição com sua trajetória nos palcos. Observa-se que seus retratos evidenciam estereótipos de fragilidade e dependência feminina vigentes no período, apesar de produzidos ao longo de uma trajetória que os negava em determinados aspectos. Contudo, e paradoxalmente, também estabelecem diálogo com tendências favoráveis a uma nova ética sexual e à ampliação dos espaços de atuação e de afirmação feminina na cena pública. Abstract:The essay analyzes representations of opera singer Lina Cavalieri (1874-1944) that were disseminated by photographic postcards created at the time of the Belle Epoque, which are compared with her career on the stage. Was observed that her portraits had been associated with stereotypes of fragility and female dependence, although them were produced during her time at the stage, when tended to occasionally disprove those stereotypes. But them also had establish dialogue with some favorable trends as a new sexual ethics, as well as the expansion of feminine workspaces, and self-affirmation in the public space. Introdução: ópera e beleza feminina na Belle Époque
O trabalho analisa mensagens transmitidas por cartões-postais produzidos e circulados na França no contexto da Primeira Guerra Mundial (1914-1918), apresentando temática associada ao conflito. O objetivo é contrapor as mensagens iconográficas e textuais neles impressas à quelas que foram manuscritas por seus remetentes, de modo a evidenciar formas de expressão e percepções do conflito, conforme empregadas por civis e militares, em diferentes momentos de seu desenvolvimento.
