This paper describes an investigation about how to use a kind of electrostatic generator known as "doubler of elec tricity" as a practical micropower generator. The device has a structure that is amenable to miniaturized construction as a MEMS device powered by ambient vibration. A simple battery charger that does not require any control circuit is studied, and the inherent instability of the device is exploited to allow greater power output, with experimental results of a large scale proto type presented.I.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
