Nas últimas décadas, a questão ambiental tornou-se um tema fundamentalnas discussões travadas no sistema interestatal capitalista por razões com motivações político-ideológicas que ultrapassam o caráter ecológico. Percebe-se na relação entre os países industrializados avançados e os países periféricos, que existe uma clara tentativa dos primeiros, representados por suas corporações econômicas e organizações político-sociais, de impor ao restante do mundo padrões de desenvolvimento econômico, como o desenvolvimentosustentável e a economia verde. Para tanto, fez-se uma leitura das pressões eambiguidades do ambientalismo político sobre a Amazônia brasileira na atual conjuntura do sistema interestatal. Constatou-se que não há, contudo, críticas tampouco mudanças estruturais no modelo de desenvolvimento ocidental. A sustentabilidade exigida pela comunidade global para a Amazônia, ancorada na dimensão ambiental e climática, não leva em conta a situação em que se encontra a população regional, muito menos, suas dificuldades econômicas e condições socioambientais. A Amazônia tornou-se um símbolo ecológico global. Mas, para quem?
La Amazonía Sudamericana, sensible y cobijada por el stock de recursos estratégicos, vive momentos de incertidumbre. La matriz económica regional se basa en la explotación de recursos naturales destinados al mercado externo. Un hecho reciente en la región es la implantación de infraestructura física basada en el transporte de carretera a partir de los intereses asiáticos, sobretodo de China. Una mirada crítica demuestra que la percepción china en estos sectores ¿sector primario y ampliación de la infraestructura¿ es dirigida por un interés nacional. China, con objetivos estratégicos determinados, está dispuesta a patrocinar obras de infraestructura, junto con Brasil y otros agentes político-económicos. Las carreteras atraviesan bosques y parecen hacen parte del interés gubernamental chino en las commodities regionales; como demuestra el paso que conecta la producción agropecuaria y mineral del Brasil a los puertos peruanos en el Océano Pacífico. Se pretende analizar la hipótesis de que el desarrollo de la Amazonía corre riesgos de subordinación a los intereses chinos, manteniendo la región como una de las más antiguas periferias del sistema interestatal capitalista. Algunas dudas surgen: ¿Existe la creación de nuevos lazos de dependencia? ¿ La expansión china en la Amazonía contradice los intereses regionales? La apuesta en nuevas revoluciones industriales y tecnológicas que carecen de materias primas abundantes en la región, justifican la conveniencia de investigación científica sobre este contexto
