O objetivo deste capítulo é abordar o financiamento de campanhas a partir do espaço que tem ocupado nas discussões acerca da reforma política desde o processo constituinte de 1988. Com o escopo de mapear as clivagens nas quais se trava este debate, apresentamos os problemas relacionados ao acesso aos recursos financeiros por partidos e candidatos, sob a abordagem de ao menos duas perspectivas distintas: a) no ponto de vista dos competidores (candidatos e partidos políticos), b) no ponto de vista dos financiadores (empresas privadas e cidadãos). Além disso, mostramos como o eixo da reforma política mudou da proposta de financiamento público exclusivo para a restrição das doações empresariais, compreendendo a relação entre os poderes políticos Executivo, Legislativo e o Judiciário neste o processo político recente.
