Este artículo se propone indagar en los modos en que se expresan las inequidades de género en un ámbito que, a pesar de su relevancia para el desarrollo del campo musical, no ha recibido suficiente atención por parte de la sociología o la historia del arte y de la música: los dominios técnicos. Tomando como punto de partida los resultados de un estudio cualitativo basado en entrevistas en profundidad y focus group, y valiéndonos de los aportes conceptuales de la teoría del género, este trabajo contribuye a la caracterización de las labores de apoyo en el mundo de la música, documentando lo que significa para las mujeres desempeñarse en este contexto masculinizado: sus costos subjetivos y las barreras cotidianas de su quehacer. Este texto, además, busca visibilizar los recursos que movilizan y las estrategias que despliegan las mujeres para persistir en estos circuitos, promoviendo formas alternativas de construir equipo en un contexto adverso. Se concluye, finalmente, que el medio técnico es un entorno altamente masculinizado, que limita severamente las posibilidades profesionales de las mujeres; en este escenario, los feminismos contemporáneos han permitido a las mujeres ir progresivamente abriendo espacios y demostrando que existen otras formas de hacer las cosas.
