Dans cet article, nous présentons une étude de perception sur la question de la norme de prononciation québécoise. L’étude remet en question l’hypothèse traditionnelle autour de la norme de prononciation du français postulant qu’au contraire des autres langues de grande extension le français n’aurait qu’un seul centre normatif (Paris). Cette problématique est abordée dans le cadre théorique de la linguistique perceptive des variétés et sur la base d’une enquête empirique sur les représentations et attitudes (perceptives) de 101 locuteurs québécois et montréalais par rapport à quatre stimuli représentant des locuteurs-modèles du Québec, de la Suisse romande et de Paris. Les résultats indiquent qu’actuellement, en plus de la prononciation parisienne, une prononciation régionale québécoise faiblement marquée bénéficierait non plus seulement d’un prestige latent , mais également d’un prestige manifeste , des résultats impliquant une redéfinition nécessaire du concept de norme de référence , qui ne se veut non plus de nature monocentrique, mais bien pluricentrique.
RésuméCet article présente une étude diachronique portant sur le changement de la norme de prononciation québécoise entre 1970 et 2008 sur la base d'un corpus de quatre heures et trente minutes de journaux télévisés de Radio-Canada, 52 à 58 minutes d'enregistrements ayant été prises en compte tous les dix ans durant cette période. L’étude compare la perspective sociolinguistique externe sur la norme (de prononciation) à la perspective interne de la phonétique sur cette même norme en se basant sur une analyse quantitative de deux traits de prononciation particulièrement saillants du français québécois : l'affrication de /t, d/ ainsi que la réalisation antériorisée de /ɑ̃/. Les résultats indiquent – du moins pour ces deux traits de prononciation – un changement significatif partant du standard de prononciation parisien et débouchant sur un standard québécois, les changements les plus frappants pouvant être observés entre les années 1970 et 1990.
Cet article présente une étude portant sur les différences de longueurs de phrases dans des articles de quatre disciplines scientifiques : la biochimie, la phonétique, la sociolinguistique et les études littéraires. La longueur de 10 phrases a été mesurée dans respectivement 20 articles de ces quatre disciplines, pour un total de 800 phrases. En plus de confirmer le stéréotype des phrases globalement plus longues dans les sciences humaines et plus courtes dans les sciences naturelles, il montre également des nuances à l’exemple de la linguistique. La phonétique, dont les méthodes sont souvent attribuables aux sciences naturelles, présente des phrases de longueurs statistiquement similaires à celles de la biochimie, alors que la sociolinguistique se rapproche pour sa part plus fortement des études littéraires. Nos résultats révèlent que la méthode de travail peut également influer sur la longueur des phrases : des faits observés empiriquement seront souvent présentés sur la base de phrases plutôt courtes, alors que des processus de réflexion favoriseront l’utilisation de phrases plutôt longues. Ces résultats montrent ainsi qu’une simple différenciation entre les disciplines n’est pas suffisante pour expliquer les différences observées, des nuances internes aux disciplines, explicables par des différences d’approches méthodologiques, devant également être prises en considération.
