S‐Methyl‐β‐N‐(3‐(2‐nitrophenyl)allylidene)dithiocarbazate (HL), Schiff base of S‐methyl dithiocarbazate, was synthesized by 1:1 condensation between S‐methyl dithiocarbazate and trans‐o‐Nitrocinnamaldehyde. It's in‐vitro cytotoxicity is assayed against two habitually infection causing bacteria strains including gram‐positive Staphylococcus aureus and gram‐negative Escherichia coli for antibacterial activity. The results showed appreciable biological activity and the activity increased with increase in concentration. This nitrogen‐sulfur based Schiff base (HL) was characterized by Mass, FT‐IR, 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, Raman, and UV‐Vis spectroscopic techniques. Theoretical quantum chemical calculation has been performed using DFT in combination with B3LYP exchange correlation functional and 6‐311++ G (d, p) basis sets level. The computed parameters were: Chemical potential of compound (μ) −0.174 eV, HOMO‐LUMO energy gap −0.11093 eV, chemical hardness (ɳ) −0.055 eV, softness (S) 2.164 eV, ionization energy (IE) −0.23026 eV, electron affinity (EA) −0.11933 eV, the electronegativity (EN) 0.174 eV, dipole moment (D) 1.3383 Debye and relative stabilization energy −1536.982 eV. In the theoretical FT‐IR spectrum analysis 81 fundamental vibrational modes has be observed because of non‐linear structure of HL, with potential energy distribution percentage (PED%) by using VEDA‐4 (Vibrational energy distribution analysis) software. Theoretically calculated parameters like 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, FT‐IR, UV‐VIS, Raman, electrostatic potential and HOMO‐LUMO energy gap were in conformity with experimental results.

In this investigation H-mordenite zeolite has been shown to be an efficient, rapid, green, stable, chemoselective and recyclable catalyst for the synthesis of 1,1-diacetates (acylals) of various aromatic aldehydes under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. The main advantages of this protocol include low catalyst loading, shorter reaction time, excellent yields, ecofriendly, mild-condition, easy work-up procedures and reusable catalyst. This method must be useful in future for the synthesis of similar derivatives. The synthesized zeolite was characterized by various techniques via X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), fourier transform-infrared (FTIR spectroscopy) and brunauer-emmett-teller (BET) surface area analysis. The synthesized reaction products were characterized by FTIR and 1 H NMR technique. Further investigation of the application of H-MOR zeolite for other reactions is ongoing in our laboratory. Anode modification is an effective method for enhancing extracellular electron transportation and improving the power density of Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC). In this study, we decorated the surface of Carbon Cloth (CC) and Graphite Felt (GF) with a new conductive polymer, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxyhiophene) (PEDOT), using galvanostatic electropolymerization and fabricated a CC/PEDOT and GF/PEDOT anode for MFC application. Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) analyses illustrated that the PEDOT coating improved a redox‐active surface area, high electron transfer capabilities, and lower charge‐transfer resistance of anode. These modified electrodes give enhanced MFC performances with maximum energy generation and coulombic efficiency compared with plain electrode. The morphological characteristics like higher surface area and open structure of felt and carbon material promoted microbial formation and electrochemical active area. Compared with the unmodified anode, the PEDOT anodic modification improves the current density by 6.9 times i. e., 3.813 Am−2. Thus GF/PEDOT anode excelled among the studied anodes with the synergetic effect of PEDOT coating and structural configuration, making it a potential optimum anode for MFC application.

The epidemic outbreak of Corona-virus emerged in the capital of Hubei province of China in December 2019 has engulfed almost all the sections of the society across globe irrespective of age, sex, race, religion, and color. The exposure of Covid-19 has increased the risk of numerous problems like stress, disorder, unemployment, poverty and other numerous challenges. This paper talks about the socio-psychological implications pertaining to the spread of coronavirus and how it has caused deaths in lakhs and how developing cum developed countries alike have imposed lockdowns, curfews, restrictions on public movements, markets, workplace, constructions, and transport and instructed people to maintain social distance which has adversely affected the daily life of common masses; particularly the daily wage earners who have no other alternative to feed their respective family thereby putting them in a state of dilemma. Many health experts have given a warning that if the disease is not controlled, it will take a heavy toll on the global level. The paper discusses about the Covid-19 has created anxiety, stress, strain, confusion, trauma, mental health problems, violence against women, children and encourage the risks of suicidal behavior. It also talks about the effects of Covid-19 on the marginalized and poor sections of the society such as migrant workers, street vendors and daily wage labours and how keeping social distance, avoiding gathering, staying at home, avoid travelling, keeping away from doing daily routine work activities etc. are some of the important challenges faced by common masses.
