ABSTRACTThe karst landscapes, because of its natural characteristics, are more vulnerable to anthropogenic activities when compared to other landscapes whose geological substrate is composed of non carbonate rocks. In this context, this article analyzes the instruments for territorial and environmental management, that directly or indirectly, contemplate actions to protect the peculiarities of the karst landscapes. It was used documental analysis techniques, in constant dialogue with the literature, that deals with environmental impacts in karst landscapes and with the main instruments of Urban Policy, National Environment Policy and National Water Resources Policy. Among these instruments, comprehensive city plans of Urban Policy were revealed as those that have more protective aspects that converge with the karst peculiarities. In addition, it was observed that specific regulations, that understand the karst landscapes in its full perspective, don't exist in the current Brazil's environmental regulatory. There aren't regulations that contemplate the karst as a system and regulate the various uses of karst areas in response to social and economic interests. Nevertheless, in spite of the existence of natural cavities' legislation, which regulates those uses that impacts the endokarst, it does not ...
