La modernización del agro chileno ha generado nuevos patrones de asentamiento y movilidad de la población tanto en ámbitos locales y regionales, como a nivel nacional. El tradicional modelo de desarrollo urbano-metropolitano, ha sido sustituido por un modelo de desarrollo agropolitano, el cual ya no se sustenta en el crecimiento y metropolización del país, sino en el crecimiento de un amplio abanico de ciudades agrarias. En este artículo se analiza la dinámica demográfica de estas ciudades agrarias. Proponemos el concepto de agrópolis, el cual lo definimos como aquellos espacios en los que la actividad económica predominante está vinculada directamente al agro, ya sea como actividad primaria (agricultura), como actividad secundaria (agroindustria) o terciaria (comercio y servicios orientados a la agricultura y/o la agroindustria). Este concepto de agrópolis nos permite superar los vacíos de la dicotomía rural-urbana, proponiendo una oposición conceptual más amplia y compleja, entre lo que serían las agrópolis y las metrópolis. RESUMENEste trabajo analiza las expectativas y proyecciones de estudiantes egresando de cuarto medio, en liceos municipales y establecimientos particulares subvencionados de la Región Metropolitana, Región del Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins, Región del Maule, Región del Bío-Bío y la Región de Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena, cubriendo de esta forma toda la zona centro y sur del país. El texto propone una conceptualización de la elección de caminos, la que se enfrentan los jóvenes de sectores populares una vez que egresan de la educación secundaria. Esta decisión vincula al sujeto con la estructura social y de oportunidades y sitúa el análisis de los discursos sociales juveniles en el marco de la discusión sobre el expansivo aumento de cobertura de la educación superior en Chile. A continuación se analizan y presentan los discursos emergentes referidos a la articulación de expectativas personales, familiares y las oportunidades disponibles, identificando trayectorias y caminos proyectados al futuro en el imaginario de los estudiantes; estos se asocian, a través de un lenguaje metafórico, a las emociones de la melancolía, la esperanza y el miedo. El artículo concluye identificando desafíos y abriendo preguntas referidas a los alcances de políticas públicas educativas, con efectos e implicancias laborales y de integración social.
RESUMENEl artículo analiza la relación entre distintas cohortes etarias y un conjunto de señales que caracterizan las diferentes décadas que cubre el proceso de modernización en Chile. A partir del análisis del grado en que las cohortes se reconocen en una serie de ámbitos en cada una de las décadas y su correspondencia con elementos ideológicos, se plantea la posibilidad de asumir como generaciones a las cohortes que participan del estudio y se discuten luego las posibilidades y límites que presenta el componente generacional como analizador social.
