In this study we have investigated the relative correlation potential of Wiener (W), Szeged (Sz), and molecular connectivity indices (0chiR, 1chiR and 2chiR) in developing quantitative structure-activity relationships, QSAR; log P values of benzoic acid and its nuclear-substituted derivatives were used for this purpose. The statistical analyses for univariate and multivariate correlations had indicated that both W and Sz are closely related to the connectivity indices (mchiR) and that the W, the Sz, and the 1chiR indices have similar modeling potentials. 1chiR gives slightly better results than both W and Sz. Other connectivity indices 0chiR and 2chiR correlate poorly with log P.
Proton-ligand formation constants of salicylhydroxamic acids (SHA) and their nuclear substituted derivatives have been estimated topologically using the normalized Wiener index, referred to as mean square Wiener index (Wms). Regression analysis of the data indicates that Wms can be used successfully for estimating and monitoring proton-ligand formation constants.
A novel method for the study of inhibition of DNA synthesis by hydroxyurea(s) using topological indices and frontier molecular orbital energies: Ehom,,, Elum,, and Et,,t~l is described. The data suggest that the inhibitory activities of urea(s) can be successfully modelled by these molecular descriptors. Excellent results are obtained in multivariate systems as well as upon introducing a dummy parameter.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
