A careful analysis of the paper entitled "An integrated approach for characterization of heavy metal contamination in lake sediments from northwestern part of Hyderabad, India" published online on December 18th 2013 has led me to the conclusion that this contribution was essentially similar to the work carried out and funded by the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) and hence, are the property of the NGRI. Therefore, I retract this article.
