Die aromatischen Verbindungen (I) werden durch Kondensation mit Methoxycarbonylsulfenyl‐ Chlorid in Gegenwart einer Lewis‐Säure (ohne Lösungsmittel bei 0°C oder in CH,C12 oder CS2 unter Erwärmen) und anschließende Hydrolyse über die Ester (II) in die Mercaptane (III) übergeführt.
Durch Reaktion des Dithiins (Ia), des Dihydrodithiins (IVa) sowie der Benzologen (Ib) bzw. (IVb) mit Triäthyloxoniumtetrafluoroborat (II) in Nitromethan werden die Dithiiniumsalze (III) bzw. (V) erhalten (20‐65% Ausbeute), deren Elektronenstruktur untersucht wird.
