PrefaceThis special issue of the Journal contains papers from the Second International Workshops on Advances in Computational Mechanics that was held from March 29 to 31, 2010 in Yokohama, Japan. 17 invited papers were presented at the organized workshop titled "Advanced Turbulent Flow Simulation" that featured the state of the art in turbulent flow simulation and its related engineering problems, whereby providing the opportunities among the researchers and engineers to exchange the latest information in this field. The covered topics were RANS, LES, RANS/LES hybrid, DNS, vortex method and a variety of their practical applications. The authors of these papers were asked whether to submit extended and updated version of their presentation for possible inclusion of this special issue. The contributed papers were evaluated according to the usual manuscript evaluation procedure of the journal. The outcome of this review process is the papers contained in the following pages. The editorial board is grateful to the authors and the reviewers for their efficient collaboration for this special issue to be published timely.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
