BACKGROUND: Online learning has become a new thing that is adapted and supports the learning process, including in nursing education during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, various studies report that there are limitations to conduct the online learning. AIM: The objective of the study was to identify the effectiveness of the real-case online-based learning in understanding the nursing care plan process and, self-efficacy from the students’ perspective. METHODS: Mix methods; explanatory sequential designs. One-hundred and fifty-seven respondents participated in the quantitative approach (64 students in the intervention group and, 93 students in the control group). Six students among the quantitative approach were participated in the qualitative approach. Mann-Whitney’s statistical approach was used for the quantitative approach, while Colaizzi’s method of data analysis was used for the qualitative approach. RESULTS: There was no significant difference between the control and treatment groups in the nursing care plan (p = 0.13) and student self-efficacy (p = 0.45). In addition, there were five themes identified by the students’ perspectives regarding the real case online learning, including; 1) opinions on learning, 2) the feelings experienced during the learning, 3) learning benefits, 4) learning barriers, and 5) expectations of learning. CONCLUSION: The real case online learning provides a different atmosphere including more interesting class, interactive interaction with the patients directly and providing positive experience for the students in the form of seeing the real cases online. The infrastructure/facilities (internet availability and stability) are important factors in the online learning process. The real case online learning is recommended as an alternative of learning that is more interesting and interactive involving the patients, students, and direct supervisors. Further research on the learning process of nursing care with a mixed system; limited offline and online cases with real, comprehensive, and interdisciplinary approaches are recommended.
BACKGROUND: The policy of limiting community activities during the COVID-19 pandemic affects the learning process. The expectation of the online learning methods is a stressor for the students. For this reason, it is necessary to explore the experiences of the students during online learning. AIM: The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences, especially hopes and needs of the students, while undergoing online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: This study applied a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The participants involved were six health students from the Faculty of Health Sciences in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. They were recruited using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through online interview. The data were then analyzed using the Colaizzi technique. RESULTS: The results illustrated that there are two themes of the students’ expectations during the learning, including the expectations of the learning process and the expectations of the lecturers. There are two themes for the students’ needs during the online learning, namely, family support and internet network support. The students expect that the learning process is carried out with a combination of learning methods and the lecturers to understand the problems faced by students. CONCLUSION: The students need the support of a good internet network and family support so that they can participate in the online learning well.

Antenatal depression has become a common and serious problem that can affect the health of both mother and baby. This study aims to review the latest obstetric scientific evidence on the risk factors for depression in pregnancy. This research is a Scoping review using the Arkshey & O'Malley Framework and the PRISMA-ScR Checklist. The literature search used 3 databases, namely Pubmed, Science Direct, and Wiley Online Library. The keywords used were pregnant women, risk factors, and pregnancy depression. The inclusion criteria were original articles; published in 2018 to 2022, in English, open access and full text, and a focus on risk factors for pregnancy depression. Article quality assessment uses the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Checklist. 13 articles were quantitative studies conducted in hospitals and clinics, and came from 8 different countries. Mapping themes from the results of the article analysis are the prevalence of depression in pregnancy, risk factors based demographics including age, education level, marital status and occupation, risk factors based on obstetric characteristics including the number of pregnancies, history of abortion, unwanted pregnancies and diseases in pregnancy, as well as risk factors based on psychosocial including husband support, family, domestic violence, and harmful habits. Information on recognizing risk factors for depression in pregnancy is important for health workers to detect depression on time and implement relevant psychosocial interventions to reduce the incidence of depression during pregnancy
