Background: Academic procrastination in university student is closely related to lower levels of self-control, self-efficacy, emotional intelligence and academic performance with increase in anxiety level. Aim of the study: was to assess the relationshipbetween Academic Procrastination, and self-control of Nursing Students at Faculty of Nursing -Zagazig University. Subjects and Methods: Research design: A descriptive design was utilized in this study. Setting: This study was conducted at Faculty of Nursing -Zagazig University. Subjects: Stratified random sample of 351 nursing students were randomly selected from the academic year 2020-2021. Tools of data collection: two tools were used: Academic procrastination scale and Self-control scale. Results: only (22.8%) of nursing students had a high level of Academic Procrastination as well, only (11.4%) of nursing students had a high level of Self-control. Conclusion: There is significant and inverse correlation between Academic Procrastination score and Self -control score. Recommendations: it is recommended that the nursing faculty members conduct a conference for newly admitted students to guide them about how to avoid academic procrastination and improve Self-control levels. Additionally, the faculty management should provide a good infrastructure and institution facilities to the student and nurse educators to ensure a high level of Self-control.
Background: Nurses are the most precious assets of any health-care institution, thus it's critical to understand their behavior. In this regard, the present study was carried out in order to examine the effect of communication skills training program for head nurses on interpersonal relations and nurses' organizational commitment. This study was carried out at Zagazig University Hospitals, using quasi experimental design. A convenience sample of 50 head nurses and simple random sample of 221 staff nurse from the previously mentioned setting. Tools: A questionnaire sheet was used to collect data for this study that was composed of three parts; Organization Communication Questionnaire, Fundamental interpersonal relation orientationbehavior questionnaires and organizational commitment scale. Results revealed that there was significant improvement in head nurses' communication skills mean score after the program implementation (P < 0.01). As well, there was statistically significant enhancement in their interpersonal relations with nurses mean score (P < 0.01). Additionally, there was a statistically significant improvement in nurses' organizational commitment after the program implementation (P < 0.01). Conclusion: communication skills training program for head nurses is effective in improving interpersonal relations and commitment of their nurses. Recommendation: hospital administration should establish training activities to offer nurses with key skills such as active listening, accurate feedback, and problem-solving techniques.
Quality of care is a right of all patients and responsibility of all nurses who deliver it.Quality is the effect of care on the individual and population. Effective improvement in quality of nursing performance should be reflected in better health, patient satisfaction and nurses' satisfaction. The aim of this study aimed to assess the level of job satisfaction among nurses, measure quality of work performed by study nurses and assess the patient satisfaction related to nursing care performance. Setting: the study carried out at new surgical hospital that affiliated to Zagazig university hospitals. The study sample: included (47) nurses and (1053) patients from different surgical wards at zagazig university hospital.Tools: three tools used to collect the necessary data; the questionnaire sheet to assess nurses job satisfaction factors, a patient' satisfaction questionnaire sheet and nurses' observational checklist to assess nurses performance for patient care. The results revealed that , most of nurses at surgical wards in new surgical hospital were satisfied in many factors when had the highest mean scores in relation to Salary , administration and management , work environment , relation at work , recognition , system of work , progress at work and work responsibilities factors . However, in relation to observed quality of nurses' performance the majority of nurses had an acceptable level in their practice on maintaining the patient rights factors, maintaining the elimination factors in the first and second 24 hours of Tanta Scientific Nursing Journal Vol. 1 No. 4 May, 2013 112 postoperative care. While, there were statistical significant relation between patient's education and their satisfaction with nurses' performance quality. Therefore, according to findings .Recommended that, developing a standard for surgical nursing care on ZagazigUniversity Hospitals and it should be communicated to all healthcare providers to improve quality of care provided to patients, as reference for practice management and controlling
