El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la competencia del profesor de Educación Básica para el análisis de tareas matemáticas sobre medidas de longitud antes y después de un ciclo formativo. A través de un enfoque cualitativo de tipo intervencionista, la investigación fue realizada con 18 profesores licenciados en matemática, letras, física y pedagogía, participantes del Grupo de Estudios e Investigaciones Didácticas de las Ciencias Experimentales y de la Matemática. Estos profesores participaron en un proceso formativo, orientado por el Ciclo de Estudio y Diseño de Tareas, fundamentado teóricamente en los Criterios de Idoneidad Didáctica, con el objetivo de estudiar, analizar, (re)diseñar y evaluar tareas matemáticas. Como resultado, los profesores manifestaron competencias antes de la formación que se refieren a conocimientos variados para la enseñanza de medidas, derivados de experiencias profesionales y formaciones adquiridas a lo largo de la vida. Después del ciclo formativo, los profesores manifestaron competencias más amplias y enfocadas en el análisis didáctico, específicamente, la competencia reflexiva, lo que indica el potencial del ciclo formativo para organizar y evaluar tareas matemáticas que se implementarán en el aula.
