Introducción: Alfabetización en Salud (AS) es un término que proviene del inglés health literacy, se refiere al conjunto de habilidades sociales y cognitivas que determinan la capacidad de una persona para acceder, entender y utilizar la información de forma que le permita mantener un buen estado de salud. Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre AS y las conductas de autocuidado en personas con diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Materiales y métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, transversal y analítico llevado a cabo en dos centros de salud de atención primaria de la ciudad de Xalapa, Veracruz, México entre agosto-noviembre de 2016. La AS se midió con el European Health Literacy Survey (HLS-EU-Q47) y las conductas de autocuidado con el Summary of Diabetes Self-care Activities (SDSCA) de Toobert y Glasgow. Se eligieron 90 personas con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 que acudían a consulta. La participación fue voluntaria y previa firma de consentimiento informado. Resultados: El autocuidado de la dieta mostró asociación con la AS en su dimensión de promoción de la salud (p=0,018). Conclusiones: La AS se relaciona con las conductas de autocuidado, en específico de la dieta; a medida que aumenta la AS mejora el autocuidado.
Objetivo: identificar elementos de competencia cultural (CC) en las enfermeras en salud pública (ESP) cuando cuidan a población indígena emberá-chamí.Metodología: etnografía interpretativa con observación participante y entrevistas en profundidad a diez colaboradores.Análisis de datos basado en la propuesta de Leininger con apoyo de los programas ATLAS.ti y Excel.Resultados: el patrón cultural permite identificar la capacidad de las esp para analizar su propia cultura, conocer, comprender e interactuar con la cultura del indígena y mediar a través de comunicación caracterizada por empatía, adaptación del lenguaje verbal y no verbal que evidencian respeto por la singularidad indígena, en un contexto de armonía con laspolíticas institucionales basadas en la cultura indígena.Conclusión: la CC de esp es un proceso amplio, tanto de ESP con la comunidad como de la articulación con políticasinstitucionales para atender la cosmovisión indígena.
Objetivo: presentar un plan de decisiones y acciones de enfermería basado en un enfoque transcultural a través del Modelo del Sol Naciente propuesto por Madeleine Leininger. Síntesis de contenido: investigación cualitativa tipo reporte de caso, en la que participó una familia residente del área rural del municipio de Villamaría (Caldas, Colombia) entre noviembre de 2017 y septiembre de 2018. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas sobre condiciones de cuidado individual-familiar, determinantes sociales y riesgo familiar, y se aplicaron instrumentos de valoración de la familia. La información se analizó mediante la técnica de Bardin, previa sistematización en el software ATLAS.ti. Se presenta un plan de decisiones y acciones de enfermería a la luz de una valoración congruente con la cultura, resultado de la conjunción de los sistemas populares y profesionales. Se valoraron siete factores a partir del Modelo del Sol Naciente (tecnológicos, religiosos, sociales, culturales, políticos, económicos y educativos) y se seleccionó el fenómeno “sobrecarga del cuidador familiar del adulto mayor”. Conclusiones: la propuesta de abordaje otorga herramientas de análisis al profesional de enfermería para brindar cuidado según necesidades, valores, creencias y modos de vida de las personas.
Objetivo. Comprender los saberes populares de las familias campesinas de Villamaría (Caldas, Colombia), a partir del rol de enfermería en la Atención Primaria de Salud. Método. Etnografía interpretativa con observación participante y entrevistas a profundidad. Participaron 7 familias de la zona rural dispersa. Se realizaron 29 visitas familiares (septiembre de 2017 a noviembre de 2018). El análisis se realizó con Atlas.ti mediante cuatro fases: recolección y registro de datos; agrupación, clasificación y codificación; identificación de patrones recurrentes, y hallazgos de investigación. Resultados. Se identificó el tema cultural “Con nuestros saberes populares salimos adelante y nos cuidamos”, justificado en tres patrones: “sobreviviendo con la familia, la espiritualidad y quienes nos apoyan”, “riesgos y experiencias ante la salud y enfermedad” y “con las comidas y métodos para cuidar sobrevivimos a los riesgos”. Conclusiones. Los saberes populares de las familias campesinas están formados por varios elementos en búsqueda de bienestar. Para la enfermedad, se encuentra sincretismo entre la medicina occidental y los métodos naturales, en especial con el manejo de las plantas. Los resultados aportan al currículo y atención de los profesionales de la salud, especialmente a enfermería al contribuir como respuesta a la normativa actual en salud.
Objetivo: Interpretar la percepción del indígena Embera Chami frente a la competencia cultural de la enfermera de salud pública. Materiales y métodos: etnografía interpretativa con observación participante y entrevistas etnografícas. Participaron siete colaboradores generales y once indígenas receptores de cuidado. El análisis siguió la propuesta de Leininger con apoyo del Atlas ti y Excel. Emergieron dos categorías cada una sustentada con dos subcategorías. Resultados: Los Indígenas satisfechos y comprometidos con la enfermera y con la Institución prestadora de servicios de salud intercultural, denota percepción positiva del cuidado recibido de la enfermera y con la política intercultural donde es reconocido y considerado el saber del indígena. Conclusión: los indígenas sienten satisfacción y compromiso de plasmar las recomendaciones ofrecidas por la enfermera, especialmente cuando el cuidado de la profesional se realiza de manera culturalmente competente involucrando el contexto de los indígenas. Pese a los aspectos con los que el cuidado culturalmente competente puede influir de manera positiva en la salud de los indígenas, los asuntos relacionados con la alimentación balanceada son difíciles de cumplir para este grupo poblacional
