Se determinó la estructura y composición de plantas vasculares en zonas circundantes de los embalses Teatinos, Gachaneca I y II en el páramo Rabanal, ubicado en un sector central de la cordillera oriental de Colombia a 5° N y 73° O de los municipios de Ventaquemada y Samacá, Boyacá. En cinco salidas de campo se hizo el levantamiento de 32 parcelas dependiendo de las características fisionómicas de la vegetación (1 x1 m vegetación rasante, 2 x 2 m vegetación herbácea, 5 x 5 m arbustiva, 10 x 10 m vegetación arbórea con aturas de 5 a 12 m y 10 x 25 m vegetación arbórea con altura mayor a 12 m). El material vegetal se procesó en el Herbario de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia de Tunja (UPTC), la determinación se hizo con el apoyo de claves taxonómicas, bases de datos y expertos. En el análisis de la diversidad se aplicó el índice de dominancia de Simpson, índice de riqueza de Margalef y de diversidad de Shannon-Weaver, adicionalmente el índice similaridad de Sörensen para los tres embalses. En general, para el embalse Teatinos se registraron 36 familias con 64 géneros y 83 especies, cuya especie representativa es Calamagrostis effusa (Kunth) Steud., para la zona circundante al embalse Gachaneca I, se registraron 19 familias con 25 géneros y 26 especies; para el embalse Gachaneca II, se registraron 30 familias con 45 géneros y 50 especies con Paepalanthus columbiensis Ruhland como especie representativa para ambos embalses, distribuidas por estratos.
