en el período de 1981 a 2000. Se estudiaron dos parámetros, los resultados de exámenes coprológicos en humanos y las notificaciones de Cisticercosis en los mataderos de bovinos. Se detectaron 629 casos de Taenia saginata, entre 3.921.847 exámenes coprológicos efectuados en este período, siendo que la positividad en heces osciló entre 0,01-0,02%. Los grupos de edad de mayor frecuencia fueron de 15 a 24 años. Hubo predominio de los adultos sobre los niños, con mayor proporción de sexo femenino en los adultos, y de sexo masculino en los niños. Las ocupaciones más frecuentes fueron de estudiantes y amas de casa. En el análisis epidemiológico de los casos, el 65 % consumió carne de res semicruda y el 22% defecaba en letrinas. En los mataderos, se detectaron en el mismo periodo, 4.207 animales con Cisticercus bovis de 447.834 animales abatidos, con un porcentaje global de parasitación de 0,9%. Las variaciones en los 20 años estudiados, oscilaron entre 0,7 y 1,2%. Se concluye que, aunque la prevalencia de T. saginata se ha mantenido estable, a partir de 1987, la reducción de los casos de C. bovis entre los años de 1993 a 2000 no tiene una explicación científica.PALABRAS CLAVE: Epidemiología.
