Las aproximaciones al fenómeno del doblaje cinematográfico ponen de relieve que en la producción de la versión doblada que los espectadores ven en el cine o en sus casas, ha participado una cadena de agentes que han ido modificando en mayor o menor medida el texto doblado. Hay incluso muchos estudios que han realizado una descripción minuciosa del papel de dichos agentes y de las fases por las que atraviesa el doblaje. Sin embargo, en pocos se menciona que tales acciones poseen una forma textual perteneciente a la modalidad de los documentos de trabajo, y prácticamente en ninguno se declara que para el estudio del doblaje resulta necesario el estudio de tales documentos. La ocultación de ese archivo tiene una consecuencia inmediata: convierte a la mayor parte de los estudios sobre el doblaje en insuficientes ya que solo han podido analizar las superficies textuales más accesibles.
