They were divided into three groups regarding their level of physical activity An anthropometric (mass, height, BMI, waist-hip ratio), and physical fitness (handgrip strength, vertical jump, flexibility and maximal oxygen consumption) were evaluated. The results show lower difference on anthropometric characteristics. There are few differences in the level of physical activity, basically in fitness cardiorespiratory. Male show better values of vertical jump than female. In turn, female have higher values of flexibility. Key words: fitness level, gender, primary school, physical activity
Therefore, this descriptive and cross-sectional research, conducted on a sample of 818 schoolchildren, has as a main objective to establish sport habits according to gender, which has acted as a moderating factor throughout history. The results showed that female schoolchildren practiced mainly individual sports and as a leisurely activity while men preferred collective and federated sports. Moreover, the level of sport practice determined that male students practiced more sports than female students, so in a greater number of weekly days and longer sessions. Therefore, this research demonstrates that the sport, which is played by children, depends on gender, as well as the necessity of matching this practice avoiding stereotypes and sedentary lifestyles.
Abstract: This paper aims to review the current worrying situation in terms of physical activity in our country and the problem that leads us to be below the European average, with the attendant problems of obesity, particularly among children, which follow from this. We analyzed the intervention programs that are being used as PIOBIN plan (The Andalusian Plan for Childhood Obesity), effective from 2007-12, based on a national strategy called Naos Strategy and how different studies support that some intrinsic motivation toward physical activity helps to create lasting habits to the practice. We also carry out an analysis of the different Motivation theories and we base our study on the Self-determination Theory of Deci and Ryan (1985, 2000).Key words: Sport; Leisure; Mass Media; Culture.
Abstract. The purpose of this work is to study physical self-concept through its relationship with psychological variables, such as anxiety and personality, in gym clients. The sample was composed by 154 participants aged between 16 and 49 years (mean age 24.97 years, SD = ± 6.92). The instruments used to measure these constructs were the Self-Concept Questionnaire (AF5), the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI). Correlation analyses confirmed significant connections among the variables studied, with emphasis on the inverse relationship between physical self-concept and trait anxiety. Moreover, linear regression analysis demonstrated that Neuroticism and Responsibility are the dimensions with strongest relation with physical self-concept.
Abstract: Objectives: the objectives pursued with this work have been, firstly, to check if the studied population spends his free time to physical activity and sport; furthermore, to know the relationship between the choice of those activities and university studies; and finally, to examine which other activities occupy their free time. Materials and method: This study has been based on the implementation of a questionnaire to 180 students from teaching physical education, with ages between 18 and 21 years. Conclusions: as the main conclusions of this study suggest that the physical and sporting activities occupy much of his free time. Similarly, there is a relation between physical activity and sport practiced and university studies elected, and not vice versa. Finally, activities like going out with friends or watching television are also part of the time free, but others like reading is done on an occasional or non-existent.
