Urticaria is one of the best-known dermatological diseases and affects between 15% and 25% of the global population. Angioedema, an acute complication of urticaria, affects about 3% of the population.
The retrospective study took into account the patients diagnosed with urticaria in the emergency room of the Măcin City Hospital, and aimed to assess the epidemiological aspects during the 2015-2020 period, and too see how it the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic influenced the incidence of diagnosed urticaria in the emergency room of a local hospital from South-East Romania.
The impact of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic might be observed in the ER activity of city hospitals, where a decreased number of presentations was observed, and, at the same time with an increase in the proportion and absolute number of urticaria cases.
Knee osteoarthritis represents one of the most frequent conditions in the elderly population. This condition aff ects the whole joint, having an important impact on the patient's quality of life.In this study, we evaluate the eff ect that medical rehabilitation treatment has on ligament instability in patients with knee osteoarthritis.Material and method: we evaluate, using specifi c tests, the anterior, posterior, lateral and medial stability in patients that undergo rehabilitation treatment. Evaluations were done initially, at 6 months after the fi rst admission and at 12 months after the fi rst admission. We compare the results in order to evaluate the impact the complex therapies that are applied have. Results: in all cases, except posterior instability, there is a good eff ect in lowering the percentage of patients with positive tests after the fi rst round of rehabilitation treatment. At six month after the second round of rehabilitation treatment (12-month evaluation) the results show a slight, non-statistically signifi cant improvement over the 6-month evaluation.
Osteoarthritis of the knee is one of the disabling conditions with a major impact on the quality of life of the patients. Existing therapies focus on reducing pain and disability caused by the disease. The existence of scores that evaluate the different aspects of patients quality of life are often used in monitoring the treatment and its results.
The study is performed on a batch of 21 patients, between June 2017 and June 2018. They performed a complex rehabilitation program being evaluated every six months by applying the WOMAC questionnaire and performing specific maneuvers.
The study has shown that by performing complex rehabilitation treatments the patients ability to perform some actions as well as their quality of life is improved and the effect following repeated treatments every six months is maintained during two treatments successive treatment.
The Vitamin D deficiency could be involved in the development of psoriasis, Vitamin D defficiency being considerd to be involved in the development of disorders related to cellular immune system. The aim of this study is to review the literature in order to find if there is an association between the Vitamin D level in the serum and psoriasis. A search for relevant articles was performed using PubMed, Web of Science and Springer databases. A total of 19 articles fulfilled the criteria for inclusion in this review. 14 studies revealed statistically significant lower levels of Vitamin D in psoriatic patients when compared to healthy controls. The other 5 studies did not found a statistically significant difference between 25-hydroxycholecalciferol levels in psoriasis group and in control group.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
