Tetramesityldibismuthane, Bis(diorganylbismuth)chalcogenides, l,4-Bis(dimethylbismuthoxo)benzene Reduction of Mes2BiBr with Na in liquid NH3 or with Cp2Co in TH F or C6D6 gives Mes4Bi2 (1) as a red solid that reversibly becomes pink on cooling with liquid nitrogen.Oxidation of 1 in air, or reaction of Mes2BiBr with NaOH, gives (Mes2Bi)20 (2). (6) and (M e2Bi)2Te (7). With equim olar amounts of p-benzoquinone tetramethyldibismuthane yields l,4-C6H 4(OBiM e2)2 (8). 'H NMR data and mass spectra of 1-8, UV-VIS data of 1-4, and the crystal structures of 2 0,5C2H 5OH, 3 and 4 are reported.

Abstract(p-CH3C6H4)4Bi2 is obtained from ditolylbismuth bromide with sodium in liquid ammonia. The compound reacts with selenium, sulfur or p-benzoquinone with increasing rate to the corresponding (R2Bi)2E-derivatives (E = S, Se, 1,4-C6H4O2). Reactions of the dibismuthane with equimolar amounts of diphenyl dichalcogenides produce phenylchalcogenobismuthanes of the general formula (p-CH3C6H4)2BiEC6H5 (E - S, Se, Te).
Methyldixanthatostibanes Abstract. Methyldi:x:anthatostibanes CHaSb(S2COR)2 are obtained either byreacting sodium xanthates with methyldibromostibanes at low temperatures (-78°0) or by insertion of CS 2 in methyldialkoxistibanes. An X-ray analysis of CHaSb(S2COC2H5)2 is given. It shows that in the crystal the Sb atom is chelated fivefold-inter and intramolecular-by sulfur atoms, so that a pentagonal pyramidal or pentagonal bipyramidal, with inclusion the lone pair, geometry is observed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
