A systematic study by HPLC was conducted to determine the content of chlorogenic acids in green coffee beans of the Variedad Colombia (Coffea arabica Caturra var. x Híbrido de Timor) and in other genotypes of interest of C. arabica, Coffea canephora, Híbrido de Timor, and the F1 offspring derived from the crossing Caturra x Híbrido de Timor. Comparisons were made of the total content of these acids, their quantitative differences, and the presence or absence of some of them, using parametric statistical techniques and multivariate analysis. Total content differences were found between C. canephora accessions, between Típica and Caturra varieties of C. arabica, and between Híbrido de Timor accessions. The chromatographic profile comparisons with principal component analysis separated in the first component C. canephora accessions from the rest of the genotypes, whereas the second component separated C. canephora accessions.
The volatile constituents of the tamarillo fruit (Cyphomandra betacea Sendtn.) pulp were obtained by liquidliquid extraction using pentane-dichloromethane mixture (2: 1, vlv). In total, 46 components were identified by HRGC and HRGC-MS analysis. Among them, methyl hexanoate, (E)-hex-Zenal, (Z)-hex-3-en-l-ol, eugenol and 4-allyl-2,6-dimethoxyphenol were found to be the major constituents. Chirospecific MDGC analysis revealed the presence of racemic mixtures both of butan-2-01 and methyl 3-hydroxybutanoate. For ethyl 3-hydroxybutanoate, methyl 3-hydroxyhexanoate and ethyl 3-hydroxyhexanoate enantiomeric distributions of 68:32%, 73:27%, and 63:37%, each of (S):(R), respectively, were determined. For a-terpineol and 4-terpineol enantiomeric excesses of 76% (S) and 48% ( R ) , respectively, were found.
The volatile constituents of the lulo fruit (Solunum vestissimum D.) peelings were obtained by liquid-liquid extraction using pentane-dichloromethane mixture (2:1, v/v). In total, 61 components were identified by HRGC and HRGC-MS analysis. Among them, methyl 3-hydroxyhexanoate, y-hexalactone, benzyl alcohol, hexadecanoic acid, (q-hex-2-enyl acetate, (E)-hex-Zen-l-ol, (Z)-hex-3-en-l-ol, (Z)-isoeugenol, vanillin and 3-hydroxy-7-8-didehydro-p-ionone were found to be the major constituents. Chirospecific MDGC analysis revealed the presence of racemic mixtures each of methyl 3-hydroxybutanoate, methyl 3-acetoxybutanoate, and linalol.
