Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are becoming a common and important cancer therapy. ICIs are associated with a unique category of side effects, termed immune-related adverse events (irAEs). We herein report the case of a 72-year-old man with postoperative recurrence of lung squamous cell carcinoma who was treated with nivolumab and who developed proteinuria and a worsening kidney function. A kidney biopsy revealed IgA nephropathy. After drug withdrawal, the proteinuria improved and the deterioration of the patient's renal function was halted. Although renal irAEs are considered to be rare and glomerulonephritis is not typical presentation, physicians need to pay more attention to renal irAEs and glomerular injury.
: Objective :There has been reports on the usefulness of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) about age-or disease-related degradation. DTI is generally evaluated by the region of interest (ROI) methodology. In this study, we applied a statistical way using Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM) to assess normal aging by DTI and compared results of these two methods. Methods : Ten young and ten senior normal volunteers were examined. On SPM, tensor images were changed into normalized tensor images. They were compared between the two groups by t-test. Results : In the senior group, fractional anisotropy (FA) values were higher on the basal ganglia, cingulated gyrus and other cortical gray matter, lower in the corona radiata, internal capsule, centrum semiovale and corpus callosum by using SPM. In the ROI method, the results were almost compatible except in the brain periphery. Conclusions : Aging changes on water diffusion anisotropy was clearly shown by SPM method which would be useful to evaluate change of water diffusion anisotropy without operator bias even in clinical setting instead of ROI measurement.
The present clinical trial indicated that subcutaneous injection of nonionic contrast medium with CT scanning seems to be a promising method for the demonstration of a draining lymph vessel and SLN. The CT value time-course may also provide some important information. Further trials will be needed for the successful establishment of this CT lymphography-guided method for SLN identification.
Efficacy of transplanted hepatocytes was evaluated in rats with a surgically induced acute hepatic failure. After 75% liver resection and portacaval shunt, the intrasplenic or intraperitoneal injection of 20 million isolated fresh hepatocytes was shown to significantly reduce the mortality rate. These results confirm that the transplantation of isolated hepatocytes may prevent death in rats with acute hepatic failure, and suggest that hepatocyte transplantation acts by a mechanism of hepatic support.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
