ResumoAs enteroparasitoses ainda constituem um grande problema de saúde pública, especialmente em países em desenvolvimento como o Brasil, onde são destaque entre as principais endemias. As parasitoses estão entre as doenças mais frequentes na população de baixa renda, afetando principalmente as crianças devido aos hábitos inadequados de higiene. O objetivo é verificar a prevalência de enteroparasitas em usuários de Unidade de Saúde da cidade de Bom Jesus dos Perdões, São Paulo, Brasil. Entre os 2524 resultados analisados 396 (15,69%) foram positivos para um ou mais parasitas entre helmintos e protozoários. O maior índice de infecção foi pelo protozoário Endolimax nana, parasita não patogênico, marcador de contaminação fecal-oral. Os inquéritos coproparasitológicos devem ser estimulados tanto em áreas urbanas como em áreas rurais. As parasitoses intestinais ainda são crescentes entre as pessoas tanto de áreas urbanas como de comunidades ribeirinhas, fato que parece ser causado pelo aumento desordenado da população, principalmente na periferia dessas aglomerações.Palavras-chave: prevalência; parasitos; saneamento básico; pobreza.
