Background: Platinum based doublet chemotherapy is considered standard but is often clinical inappropriate. Newer drugs as docetaxel and gemcitabine given as single agents in 1st-and 2nd-line have shown favorable toxicity and significant efficacy. It is assumed that sequencing of docetaxel and gemcitabine could be an equally effective alternative for palliation. Treatment: From 1998 to 2004 a total of 819 patients have been included in three studies (Figure ): two to identify an optimal single agent sequence; and one to compare sequential single agents to a platinum-free doublet.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
