It has become essential to prepare land use maps because these are recognized as necessary tools for the preparation of land capability, land classification and land suitability maps which in turn provide guidelines for the regional planning, development and future orientation of agriculture in the regional system. The principal objective of this study is to identify, demarcate and map agricultural land use categories of Tehran province on basis of remote sensing survey technique. In this research, Landsat ETM images of July 2006 were used to expose the use of remote sensing technique in order to produce current land use map of the study area. Analysis indicates that the major parts of the area comprise rangeland with the total surface area of 1146585 ha. About 102080 ha of the total area was occupied by rock outcrop and forest land. The remaining surface area was under cultivation. @ JASEM
Titania (TiO 2) nanoparticles were prepared by combining bulk titania with trisodium citrate solution at room temperature without calcination. The formation of titania nanoparticles was confirmed from XRD and by the dominant FTIR peaks at 621 cm-1 , 412 cm-1. UV-Visible analysis shows the occurrence of strong red shift, confirming the presence of nanoparticles which is essential for higher photo catalytic activities. TGA analysis reveals that the synthesized titania nanoparticles were thermally stable up to 700 °C. SEM image shows that the particles of the synthesized sample are in nanometer range which is in accordance with UV-Visible studies.
A carbonaceous adsorbent prepared from an indigenous waste by acid treatment was tested for its efficiency in removing chromium ion. The parameters studied include agitation time, initial chromium ion concentration, carbon dose, pH and temperature. The adsorption followed first order reaction equation and the rate is mainly controlled by intra-particle diffusion. Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models were applied to the equilibrium data. The adsorption capacity (Qm) obtained from the Langmuir isotherm plots were 27.40, 26.06, 26.06 and 26.17 mg/g respectively at an initial pH of 7.0 at 30, 40, 50 and 60°C. The temperature variation study showed that the chromium ion adsorption is endothermic and spontaneous with increased randomness at the solid solution interface. Significant effect on adsorption was observed on varying the pH of the chromium ion solutions. Almost 70% removal of chromium ion was observed at 60°C. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms obtained, positive ∆H0value, pH dependent results and desorption of dye in mineral acid suggest that the adsorption of chromium ion on PDC involves physisorption mechanism.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
