The magnetic and NMR properties of Zr1−xGdxZn2 (0≤x≤0.05) have been investigated to clarify the influence of localized magnetic moments on conduction electron ferromagnet ZrZn2. The dependence of magnetization intensity of Gd concentration shows that the Gd atoms are S states and the spin polarization of conduction electrons by a localized Gd moment does not take place. Moreover, ferromagnetism would disappear above x=0.025. The hyperfine field of Zr in ZrZn2 is −38 kOe, and is remarkably less than usual for transition metals. This result is explained by assuming mixing of the 4d and 5s wavefunctions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
