Studi ini mengkaji hubungan agama, sains, dan Covid-19 dalam perspektif sosial-agama. Ada tiga pertanyaan utama dalam studi ini: (a) bagaimana titik perjumpaan dan pertengkaran antara agama dan sains itu berlangsung; (b) bagaimana respons dan perspektif agama terhadap wabah; dan (c) bagaimana kemampuan agama bertahan di tengah ancaman pandemi Covid-19. Studi menemukan bahwa selalu ada titik tengkar dan dialog antara sains dan agama. Lalu, doktrin agama juga memiliki pandangan bahwa wabah itu bisa jadi hukuman atau cobaan dari Tuhan sehingga menjadi anti sains, walau ada organisasi Muhammadiyah yang akrab dengan sains sehingga ikut memengaruhi landasan pemikiran keagamaan yang dibangunnya. Terakhir, agama diyakini dapat bertahan karena modal institusi dan tradisi spritualitas di tengah kuatnya Covid-19.
This paper argues Islamism in Aceh Province, Indonesia, has a long history within the social structure of the Acehnese people. Genealogically, there are two factors to view Islamism here, namely the relationship between Islam and politics in the past, and the people’s cultural and social construction, which has a strong Islamic base. Therefore, the collective memory about the relationship between Islam and politics, as well as the construction, then has implications in the lives of the Acehnese people in closely viewing those from various aspects. This study applies a qualitative method in which the data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The findings indicate that Islamism in Aceh is not a form of compensation from the Government of Indonesia to quell the conflict, but rather the form of aspirations that come from below on the long-standing awareness in the cultural and social structure of the locals regarding the relationship between religion and the state. In addition, unlike similar studies involving the notion of Pan-Islamism, the result shows that Islamism is more likely as the demands to retrieve political recognition.
Tulisan ini membahas pembentukan demokrasi lokal di Aceh pascakonflik dengan berfokus munculnya indentitas politik baru yang tidak memiliki hubungan vertikal dengan struktur politik nasional. Berdasarkan data empiris yang analisis dokumentasi selama tahun 2017 hingga 2021, tulisan berargumen bahwa pembentukan demokrasi lokal pasca konflik merupakan konsolidasi yang dilakukan oleh beragam kelompok politik dan tekanan stabilitas rehabilitasi dan rekonstruksi Aceh dari bencana. Untuk mempertahan tesis tersebut, penulis membahas tiga tema, yakni bencana di Samudra Hindia, pencarian bentuk perdamaian yang bermartabat, dan reintegrasi politik lokal. Tulisan ini pada akhirnya menyimpulkan bahwa pembentukan demokrasi lokal di Aceh pascakonflik memberi kontribusi signifikan terhadap bangunan kesadaran identitas politik dari unit yang lebih kecil dari cerita besar keindonesiaan.
