The aim of this methodological study was to translate, culturally adapt and assess the internal consistency and validity of the Spanish version of the "Spirituality Questionnaire". The sample comprised 204 young people between 18 and 25 years of age from two universities in Bogotá.Cronbach's Alpha was used for reliability, while groups of experts and young people were used for construct validity. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used for construct validity.The reliability score of the total instrument was 0.88. The overall index of content validity corresponded to 0.90. Exploratory factor analysis showed that four factors explain 52.60% of the variance. The originally proposed theoretical model was confirmed and, in two dimensions, a different structure was proposed. Objective: to demonstrate the relations among vulnerability, self-transcendence and well-being in the young adult population and the effect of each of these variables on the adoption of low-risk consumption conducts. Method: quantitative and cross-sectional correlation study using structural equations analysis to test the relation among the variables. Results: an inverse relation was evidenced between vulnerability to alcohol consumption and spiritual transcendence (β-0.123, p 0.025) and a direct positive relation between spiritual transcendence and psychosocial well-being (β 0.482, p 0.000). Conclusions: the relations among the variables spiritual transcendence, vulnerability to alcohol consumption and psychosocial well-being, based on Reed's Theory, are confirmed in the population group of young college students, concluding that psychosocial well-being can be achieved when spiritual transcendence is enhanced, as the vulnerability to alcohol consumption drops.

Objective: to determine the effect of sociodemographic and vulnerability variables on the alcohol use of university women.Method: it is an exploratory study composed for 301 college women. Sociodemographic and vulnerability data were obtained through electronic questionnaire (CAGE, AUDIT-C, sociodemographic and vulnerability to alcohol questionnaire). The data analyze, were used the chi-square test and logistic regression.Result: this results showed that 80.4% of women showed moderate use and 19.6% showed harmful use of alcohol. The variables that showed effect in use pattern were: age of first use, socioeconomic level, kind of drink, and social network. Conclusions:we can conclude that the vulnerability factors, destiled alcohol drinks, social networks that promote beverage consumer, and onset the use between 14 and 16 years are characteristics that can promote the nocive comsumption. The aim of this descriptive, cross-sectional study, developed with 93 professionals, was to characterize the roles of the professionals who were working in the drug addiction outpatient centers of the city of Bogota, Colombia. The results showed that psychologists were the predominant professionals (38%), followed by occupational therapists (34%). Nurses corresponded to 8% of the professionals, with their roles predominantly in the aspects of health promotion and self care (100%), in the administrative area (43%) and in prevention (57%) and very little in rehabilitation and social rehabilitation (14%). The roles of the professionals agreed with the expected activities of the different professions, with the exception of the occupational therapists. It is considered that nurses need to gain more space within the team to focus on drug users.

Los pacientes con enfermedad cardiovascular pueden requerir hospitalización en Unidad de Cuidado Intensivo cardiovascular (UCIC), generando incomodidad a múltiples niveles. Enfermería como disciplina brinda cuidado para recuperar la comodidad. Es necesario reconocer la comodidad como compleja y multidimensional, requiere ser estudiada desde una postura epistémica interpretativa con el complemento objetivo que ofrece la indagación cuantitativa.Objetivo: Describir la comodidad y los factores que la afectan en el paciente adulto hospitalizado en una UCIC.Metodología: Enfoque mixto que implicó un estudio cualitativo y la recolección de datos cuantitativos de manera paralela para realizar un análisis independiente y mayor. Muestra correspondiente a 45 personas participaciones, hospitalizadas en los meses de diciembre de 2015 y enero de 2016 en un hospital de cuarto nivel en Bogotá. Se aplicó una entrevista semiestructurada y el instrumento de comodidad (GCQ) de Kolcaba.Resultados: Se obtuvieron seis categorías y dieciséis códigos, los factores que alteraron la comodidad fueron percepción de no poder realizar actividades; sentirse encerrado, percepción de mucho ruido o el tener que hacer sus funciones corporales ante personas desconocidas. Los factores que mejoran la comodidad están: poder contar con el apoyo de otra persona y el apoyo espiritual. Según el cuestionario GCQ las necesidades de comodidad están a un nivel medio-alto y alto.Conclusiones: El nivel de comodidad fue alto, el ámbito más comprometido fue el físico. La metodología mixta permitió describir de manera completa la comodidad de las personas en la UCIC.

Introducción: La incorporación de los niños como participantes de estudios investigativos es una práctica más frecuente debido a la necesidad de conocer y entender su visión acerca de las experiencias de vida, planteando nuevos retos y responsabilidades que se centran principalmente en las consideraciones éticas y metodológicas de la investigación. Objetivo: Describir los aspectos éticos que deben ser tenidos en cuenta en la investigación cualitativa con niños. Metodología: Artículo de revisión con búsqueda sistemática en bases de datos, incluyendo artículos científicos, libros y literatura gris. Se seleccionó  la información relevante en torno a ocho temas conforme al proceso investigativo. Resultados principales: La cuestión ética constituye un aspecto central en el momento de iniciar y desarrollar cualquier estudio investigativo, por lo que está presente desde su planteamiento hasta su finalización. Se abordan las consideraciones éticas que se encuentran implicadas desde la vinculación de los niños como participantes, hasta la obtención de la información y la socialización de los resultados.  Conclusiones: El cumplimiento de los criterios de rigor metodológico como la dependencia, la credibilidad, la transferibilidad y la confirmación, aseguran la calidad de la investigación cualitativa con niños, permitiendo además, la adecuada aplicación de los principios éticos de beneficencia y no maleficencia, justicia, autonomía y confidencialidad.

Objective: to identify and synthesize evidence that relates the salutogenic theory proposed by Antonovsky with cardiovascular disease in adults. Methods: we conducted a scoping review as proposed by Arksey and O’Malley. Bibliographic databases were searched for original research articles about salutogenesis and cardiovascular health. The search yielded 29 studies that met the previously defined inclusion criteria. The results were evaluated and summarized in the form of a narrative. Results: the findings of the studies pointed to a correlation among a strong sense of coherence, high quality of life and a greater likelihood of adopting healthy behaviors. Furthermore, the articles showed that social support improves perceived health and well-being of adults with cardiovascular disease. Conclusions: as a central concept of the salutogenic theory, a sense of coherence represents a topic of interest for nursing professionals. Through their interventions, nurses can strengthen and improve people’s skills in the quest for and maintenance of their own health.

The present study identified and compared the attitudes of nursing students from North and South American countries towards alcohol, alcohol use disorders and persons with alcohol use disorders (AUDs). A cross-sectional design and survey approach were used. The sample consisted of 327 nursing students recruited from four nursing schools in metropolitan regions of North and South America. The questionnaire contained questions about sex, age, marital status, home country and other questions about training in substance use disorders during nursing education and previous experiences with substance use disorder patients. To identify nursing students' attitudes, validated English, Spanish and Portuguese versions of the attitudes scale for alcohol, alcoholism and persons with AUDs (EAFAA) were applied. Comparison of the four groups suggested that nursing students in the United States demonstrated more positive attitudes than students from Colombia, Mexico and Brazil. Similar positive attitudes were observed towards individuals with AUDs. Results of the attitudes towards the aetiology of AUDs showed positive attitudes in all samples, suggesting a contemporary understanding of AUDs. Nursing students' attitudes were associated with home country and training in substance use disorders during nursing education. Nursing students' attitudes were generally positive across countries. Idiosyncratic cultural and educational aspects in these countries and world regions likely significantly influenced the attitudes of nursing students towards alcohol and associated issues.
