This article reconstructs the case of Mrs. Concepción, a resident of a rural town in the state of Querétaro, who was arrested in 2005 for providing food and shelter to Central American immigrants in transit. Two years later, she was released. Her case summarizes in a series of modifications in solidarity practices towards immigrants and allows to explore some displacements in the social discourses on immigration and solidarity that have occurred in Mexico during the last fifteen years. This story shows the attacks of the government that oppress the Central American immigrants and break the social grammars that sustain solidarity practices. The solidarity practiced by this rural woman was based on a series of empathies with the immigrants as poor and deprived individuals, but also in a moral of the gift that emphasized the value of giving selflessly.
Se analizan las experiencias de sufrimiento de personas migrantes centroamericanas que padecieron mutilaciones como consecuencia de eventos ocurridos en su desplazamiento por territorio mexicano al utilizar trenes de carga, destinados al traslado de mercancías, como medio de transporte. Método que ha sido empleado de forma clandestina por la migración irregular para llegar a la frontera con Estados Unidos. El material empírico es producto de una investigación cualitativa multisituada con enfoque etnográfico, realizada de 2016 a 2020, donde a través de entrevistas a profundidad y observaciones participantes se reconstruyeron 12 casos de personas migrantes mutiladas. Se reflexiona sobre las formas que hallaron para reconfigurar su subjetividad toda vez que las lesiones físicas los expusieron a la muerte e interrumpieron sus trayectorias migratorias, en ocasiones, de forma definitiva. Se centra en el papel de lo sagrado como una dimensión de sentido que ayudó a inteligir el evento sufrido y a retomar sus vidas.
Este artículo busca hacer una descripción y un análisis de las prácticas y las narrativas en torno al acto de pedir, por parte de personas migrantes de origen centroamericano que transitan irregularmente por México. Los autores denominan pedagogías del don al proceso cotidiano en el que los migrantes enseñan y aprenden a solicitar ayuda para sobrevivir durante sus viajes. Asimismo, hacen alusión a las orientaciones éticas que suscitan dichas pedagogías, así como a las performances corporales e intersubjetivas que se despliegan. En las conclusiones, los autores señalan que las pedagogías del don enseñan esquemas de relacionamiento que se ligan también a retóricas del pedir..
Este capítulo analiza la forma en que la biopolítica, entendida como administración de la vida, se torna tanatopolítica toda vez que la muerte se convierte en el elemento fundamental para que persista el control de la población. Para ello, se analizan dos casos de migrantes centroamericanos que transitaron por el territorio mexicano para llegar a Estados Unidos. El primer caso tiene que ver con el encierro en un centro de detención fronterizo, donde debido a la falta de cuidado médico adecuado, la persona muere. El segundo es el caso de un joven mutilado al caer del tren y la forma en que la atención médica se moviliza para salvarle la vida. A través de ambos, se reflexiona sobre la ambivalencia biopolítica del hacer vivir y dejar morir, donde ese "dejar morir" cobra protagonismo en el afán de administrar la vida.
