Se describe una metodología para el aislamiento de Trypanosoma sp. a partir de deyecciones de Rhodnius prolixus infectados con Trypanosomas. Básicamente se emplea antibióticos y antimicóticos que inhiben el crecimiento de bacterias y hongos permitiendo así el crecimiento de los Trypanosomas. Se demuestra la importancia de ésta metodología en las encuestas de vectores. INTRODUCCIONLa recuperación de cepas de Trypanosoma cmzi a partir de las deyecciones de los triatomíneos vectores, comentemente se hace por inoculación de éstas a los ratones en los cuales no siempre se logra, ya que muchas veces sólo se encuentran flagelados de la forma epimastigota sin metacíclicos, que son las formas infectantes. En los triatomíneos infectados con Trypanosoma rangeli las formas infectantes las encontramos en las glándulas salivares del Rhodniusprolixus y formas epimastigotas en las heces. En muchas regiones se encuentran infecciones mixtas por T. cruzi y T. rangeli que dificultan la identificación del primero. El aislamiento de las cepas por medio del cultivo de las deyecciones de los triatomíneos con flagelados, MATERIALES Y METODOS Rhodnius prolixusSe utilizaron tanto los recolectados en su habitat natural como los infectados en el laboratorio a través de xenodiagnóstico.
