RESUMOO objetivo do presente estudo é buscar dados atualizados e específicos dos periódicos relacionados à área de Administração, Ciências Contábeis e Turismo quanto ao idioma de publicação e sua classificação no critério nacional do Periódicos Qualis, enfatizando a língua inglesa como língua franca para a disseminação do saber científico. Para tal, foi desenvolvida uma pesquisa documental na Plataforma Sucupira buscando avaliar os periódicos classificados no Periódicos Qualis com posterior análise de conteúdo. Como resultados tem-se que 100% dos periódicos classificados no estrato Qualis A1 aceitam, para publicação, somente artigos em língua inglesa e que 75,4% do total de periódicos da área de Administração, Ciências Contábeis e Turismo são caracterizados por publicações em língua inglesa como idioma exclusivo ou como um de seus idiomas de publicação. Conclui-se que a língua inglesa é a mais requisitada em publicações, confirmando o idioma inglês como língua franca da produção científica e fundamental para o compartilhamento do saber em escala global.Palavras-chave: Língua inglesa. INTRODUÇÃOAs revistas científicas são consideradas o principal veículo de difusão do conhecimento científico, portanto, tornou-se fundamental a classificação e hierarquização das mesmas em suas áreas especificas de concentração. Já para os pesquisadores, sua avaliação foi, durante muito tempo, baseada na quantidade de publicações, principalmente publicações de impacto/relevância no meio acadêmico. Atualmente é consensual no meio científico, a avaliação dos trabalhos de pesquisa pela sua qualidade, através do interesse que o trabalho gera para outros pesquisadores e, frente a isso, seu número de citações (PORTUGAL; BRANCA; RODRIGUES, 2011).Para a construção e disseminação do conhecimento científico, o reconhecimento pelos pares é uma das etapas pela qual uma pesquisa científica acadêmica normalmente deve ser submetida (SOUZA; TANNURI, 2011). Oliveira (2002) e Silva, Menezes e Pinheiro (2003), afirmam que, para obter reconhecimento, é necessária a divulgação das pesquisas nos meios de comunicação científicos formais, tais como dissertações, teses, anais de eventos, apresentações em eventos acadêmicos e o envio de artigos científicos para publicação em periódicos.Na sociedade do conhecimento contemporânea, publicar em periódicos reconhecidos é sinônimo de certificação do trabalho científico acadêmico, requisito também considerado na avaliação das instituições de ensino e pesquisa cujo renome é medido pela quantidade de trabalhos científicos publicados pelo corpo docente e pelo corpo discente, como também por seu impacto (ARAÚJO; AZEVEDO; VIEIRA; NASCIMENTO, 2014). O Brasil, juntamente com a China, é considerado uma crescente economia de pesquisa.
