El frijol es un cultivo estratégico para México, representa una importante fuente de ocupación e ingreso en la economía campesina y en la dieta, representa la única y principal fuente de proteínas, para amplias sectores de la población, además es un alimento con importantes propiedades nutracéuticas. En el sur de Veracruz, se obtienen rendimientos promedio de 700 kilogramos por hectárea, esta baja productividad obedece principalmente al uso de materiales criollos regionales de limitada capacidad productiva y susceptible a enfermedades y un manejo inadecuado del cultivo, por lo que el objetivo de este estudio fue determinar el potencia de rendimiento de cuatro genotipos de frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), su respuesta a la fertilización mineral y al uso de biofertilizantes, en el municipio de Catemaco, Veracruz. Los rendimientos de grano ha-1 indican que no hubo diferencia entre genotipos, con rendimientos promedio de casi 2 t ha-1, casi el triple de los promedios de la región. El uso de la fórmula 40-40-40, casi duplica el rendimiento del testigo absoluto, el uso de biofertilizantes también incrementó el rendimiento y la interacción de primer orden entre genotipos y fertilización mineral, resulto significativa estadísticamente.
El modelo GGAVATT está basado en la participación organizada y activa de grupos de productores (10-20) con fines de producción similares, en torno a un módulo de validación en el que se utiliza, adapta y adopta la tecnología generada en los centros de investigación con la finalidad de incrementar la producción y productividad de los ranchos; mejorar el nivel de vida de los productores y sus familias; además, de fomentar la conservación y mejoramiento de los recursos naturales. El objetivo de este estudio fue describir el manejo de los sistemas de producción bajo el modelo GGAVATT del Grupo Casas Viejas del municipio de Texistepec, Veracruz. El supuesto guía es que el incremento en el nivel de adopción de tecnología depende de los factores sociales, económicos y culturales de sus integrantes. Se aplicó la metodología GGAVATT en el primer periodo etapas I y II de un total de cuatro, en el que se examinó cada una de las innovaciones que componen el paquete tecnológico indicado, durante los años 2010-2011. El grupo fue integrado por diez propietarios de unidades de producción destinadas a la crianza de bovinos de doble propósito. Se encontró que en todos los componentes aplicados del paquete tecnológico conllevaron a la evolución de la transferencia de tecnología de cada integrante y del Grupo en su conjunto. Se concluye que el modelo GGAVATT dinamizo los cambios en el aspecto tecnológico, pero también en el aspecto socio-cultural al participar, integrar y adquirir conocimientos bajo la interacción social, para mejorar sus ranchos.
Se estudió el efecto de diferentes densidades de población sobre el crecimiento de dos variedades de mojarra tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (variedad Stirling) y Oreochromis ssp (pargo UNAM). El trabajo se realizó bajo el sistema de jaulas flotantes con capacidad de 1m3 (3x1x1), bajo tres densidades experimentales: 100, 200 y 300 peces/m3 /Jaula. El experimento se evaluó durante tres meses (marzo, abril y mayo), los peces se alimentaron a libre acceso tomando en cuenta su biomasa corporal, duplicando la alimentación para la densidad de 200 y triplicándola para la densidad de 300. El crecimiento se evaluó con base en talla y peso, con diseño factorial completamente al azar y diez repeticiones por cada tratamiento, utilizando un ANOVA para el análisis de los datos. Los resultados del experimento nos indican que estadísticamente hay diferencia significativa para ambas variedades. La variedad Stirling tiene un crecimiento significativo y mejor adaptación a las diferentes densidades a la que fue sometida, Pargo-UNAM sólo se adapta y tiene mejor crecimiento con densidad de 100 peces/m3. Los resultados obtenidos indican que para tener resultados satisfactorios en la producción de tilapia en jaulas flotantes, se deben tomar en cuenta las densidades poblacionales, que son parte funcional de un sistema de producción.
Los maíces nativos (Zea mays L.) pigmentados, han tomado importancia, debido a sus interesantes propiedades nutraceúticas, además de son alternativa de un cultivo con un valor agregado para la industria, por estas razones, se realizó un ensayo con un maíz nativo rojo, en suelos ácidos y de baja fertilidad, del sur de Veracruz, con el objetivo de evaluar su comportamiento en esas condiciones y determinar su potencial productivo. Se utilizó un diseño experimental de bloque completos al azar, con cuatro repeticiones y dos tratamientos, T1 = plantas promedio, representativas de la población y T2= plantas superiores, con características deseables para alto rendimiento. Se utilizó la técnica del Análisis de Varianza y la comparación de medias por Tukey 0.05. Los resultados mostraron una alta variabilidad en crecimiento y rendimiento por planta, Sin embargo los rendimientos por ha fueron satisfactorios, 3,490 y 6,514 kg ha-1, para las plantas promedio y las plantas superiores, respectivamente. Esto pone en evidencia su alto potencial genético, ya que estos rendimientos se obtuvieron, en condiciones adversas de suelos ácidos y de baja fertilidad y la presencia de una severa sequía, atípica, que se presentó en ese ciclo de cultivo.
