Este artigo apresenta aos resultados de uma pesquisa realizada no período de 2017 a 2019. Neste estudo, objetivamos destacar o aprimoramento nas discussões e trâmites relativos ao sistema de cotas na Universidade Estadual de Londrina – UEL. Para isso, utilizamos como método de pesquisa o materialismo histórico dialético e como procedimentos metodológicos a pesquisa bibliográfica, análise documental e entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os resultados demonstram que o sistema de cotas, nesta Instituição, passou por avaliações que o aperfeiçoou e ampliou. Concluímos, que este sistema se trata de uma política de inclusão tanto racial como social, e que requer acompanhamento e avaliação contínuos para que seus objetivos, declarados em legislação, sejam plenamente alcançados e, por fim, que se contribua para a democratização da educação superior.
A diversidade de pessoas é fato e, ao longo da história, construiu-se ideologias e consolidou-se uma assimetria de valor para a diversidade. O Brasil é um país de diversidade étnica, e essa condição influencia as relações sociais. Este estudo relatará uma experiência de alunos de Licenciatura de uma universidade pública de Apucarana. O estudo teve três fases: estudos teóricos de raça e gênero, concepção de valores e discriminação; aplicação de questionário sobre auto identificação e discriminação ocorridos na universidade, o que revelou uma exacerbada discriminação religiosa, social, racial, de gênero e física; e a realização de um momento de reflexão, no qual foi apresentado os resultados da pesquisa com uma ação de sensibilização, promovendo uma autocrítica comportamental. Por fim, realizou-se uma avaliação que demonstrou o êxito da atividade, pois os alunos mostram-se comovidos e reflexivos sobre o tema.
