Der hier vorzustellende Band eröffnet zum einen die Schriftenreihe Mittelalter und Renaissance in der Romania, in deren Rahmen die Forschungsergebnisse des gleichnamigen wissenschaftlichen Netzwerks vorgestellt werden sollen, zum anderen enthält er das Ergebnis der ersten Tagung dieses Netzwerks, deren Motto für den Band auch titelgebend geworden ist. Den Beiträgen u. a. aus den Bereichen Sprach-, Literatur-und Kulturwissenschaft sind ein kurzes «Vorwort der Reihenherausgeber » (p. 5) sowie eine umfangreiche « Einleitung » (p. 9-41) vorangestellt ; ein « Personen-» und ein « Sachregister » (p. 409-411 bzw. 413-419) schließen den Band ab. Für die « Einleitung » zeichnen die Reihenherausgeber Lidia Becker, Elmar Eggert, Susanne Gramatzki und Christoph Oliver Mayer zusammen mit Mario Garvin. 1 Sie beginnt mit einem wissenschaftshistorischen Abriss über die romanistische Forschung zu Mittelalter und Renaissance, an den sich eine Skizze des status quo (auch in der Lehre) anschließt. Die Verfasser betonen im Anschluss die Relevanz dieses Forschungsbereichs, der sie mit der Gründung des dann vorgestellten Netzwerks nicht Aktualität des Mittelalters und der Renaissance in der Romanistik. Il presente volume, versione rimaneggiata e tradotta della Habilitationsschrift dell’autore,1 mira a “delineare l’evoluzione della lingua scritta volgare non letteraria dell’Italia settentrionale” (7), adoperando un metodo sviluppato, e variamente applica- to, soprattutto da Hans Goebl. L’opera si divide in quattro capitoli, preceduti da due prefazioni (1-6)2 e seguiti dalla “Bibliografia” (423-454), dalle “Cartine coropletiche” (455-620), e da due indici (621-624).
Nicht nur der Titel des hier vorzustellenden Buches macht in erfrischend knapper und schlichter Weise deutlich, worum es Ulrich Wandruszka geht, auch die Darstellung selbst gelingt dem Autor angenehm schnörkellos und ohne Rekurs auf komplexe Formalisierungen. Gleichwohl handelt es sich nicht um eine Einführung in die Grammatik bestimmter (Einzel)Sprachen, bei der ein bestimmter modelltheoretischer Rahmen eher im Hintergrund der Darstellung bliebe (cf. etwa Renzi et al. 2001) Ð der Verfasser möchte seinen Leser vielmehr davon überzeugen, dass ein ganz bestimmtes Modell, nämlich das der Kategorialgrammatik, «ein geeignetes 1 und in einem tieferen Sinn angemessenes Verfahren zur analytischen Wiedergabe natürlichsprachlicher Zeichen und Zeichenkombinationen ist» [1]. Nach einem ersten Versuch in dieser Richtung (cf. Wandruszka 1997) geht es ihm nun stärker um das Exemplarische und Grundlegende; diese Veränderung der Perspektivierung spiegelt sich auch in den sehr expliziten epistemologischen Überlegungen hinsichtlich der Eigenschaften, die ein (formales) Modell haben muss, um seinem Objektbereich Ð im Bereich des Sprachlichen auch und gerade den allfälligen «Unregelmäßigkeiten» Ð in angemessener Weise Rechnung tragen zu können. Diese Überlegungen finden sich vor allem im ersten der drei Teile des Buches [1Ð13], während der zweite sich mit dem Thema «Die immanente Grammatik» befasst [14Ð69] und der dritte konkrete «Anwendungen der Kategorialgrammatik» enthält [70Ð207]. Ein «Literaturverzeichnis» [208Ð211] und ein «Begriffsregister» [212s.] schließen den Band ab. Wie bereits angedeutet, widmet sich die «Einleitung» Grundsätzlichem, und zwar in verschiedener Hinsicht: Es geht etwa um (die Wahl der) Notationskonventionen und deren Sinn, um Autonomie, Eigengesetzlichkeit und Ähnlichkeit als notwendige Eigenschaften formaler Modelle von natürlichen Sprachen und um die Ausrichtung der Kategorialgrammatik auf die reziproke Abhängigkeit sprachlicher Zeichen als grundlegender Relation. Wissenschaftshistorisch schließlich stellt Wandruszka seine Überlegungen in die Tradition strukturalistischer und insbesondere dependenzgrammatischer Ansätze. Der mit «Die immanente Grammatik» überschriebene Teil behandelt zunächst «Syntaktische und semantische Valenz» [15Ð21], dann «Erwerb und Verwendung der immanenten Grammatik» [21Ð35] und schließlich «Die Kategorial-1 Im Text «geeigentes»; die Zahl der Druckfehler ist insgesamt gering, störender sind manche Zeilenumbrüche (hier mit «|» notiert), cf. etwa «(g (f |(x))» [72], «[. . .] cet enfant NP ) S/NP |) S » [92], «[. . .] Peter S/(S/NP) |) S//NP » [173]. Das Seitenlayout leidet regelmä-ßig, wenn sich der Zeilenabstand durch Indizes vergrößert, die ihrerseits indiziert sind, cf. «(Lach-StV -er N/StV ) N » [38] und passim.
