MODELS is an autonomous general‐purpose simulation program recently interfaced to two versions of the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP). This interfacing enables the description of components that could not be represented easily until now using the electrical elements of the EMTP and the set of control blocks available in its TACS (Transient Analysis of Control Systems) section. This paper evaluates the usage of MODELS in the EMTP by stressing the differences in approach and use as compared to TACS. An application example is provided and discussed.
We present a general method for constructing numerical Jacobian matrices for flows discretized on a Poincaré surface of section. Special attention is given to Hamiltonian flows where the additional constraint of energy conservation is explicitly taken into account. We demonstrate the approach for a conservative dynamical flow and apply the technique for the general detection of periodic orbits.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
