No campo de uma cartografia digital geo-histórica o artigo apresenta mapas inéditos sobre a mobilidade urbana da cidade de São Paulo, produzidos no âmbito de pesquisa coletiva, relativos ao período entre 1877 e 1930. Em termos de metodologias, o destaque é para a aplicação do georreferenciamento relativo de mapas históricos passando pela vetorização de alguns elementos escolhidos, para, a seguir, trabalhar com uma cartografia analítica transformacional. Esses mapas em sua diversidade de métodos de representação podem permitir novos olhares sobre a mobilidade da cidade de São Paulo e seus reflexos no quadro interacional da cidade. Algo que se procurou fazer no artigo mobilizando também algumas referências teóricas para avaliar esse elemento-chave (o quadro interacional) para a constituição da cidade e de sua sociedade urbana.
L’objectif de cet article est la compréhension des dynamiques de transformation de São Paulo et Lyon au moment où les deux villes ont la même population, en 1920, avec 500 000 habitants, et dans les décennies antérieures. L’une est alors en pleine trajectoire d’ascension, et l’autre mature mais économiquement très dynamique. On fait l’hypothèse et montre ici que la comparaison, par ses exigences méthodologiques, est à même de renouveler la compréhension des phénomènes en jeu. À partir des travaux de deux groupes de chercheurs, brésiliens et français, les problématiques des transports publics, du développement industriel et de la croissance spatiale sont traitées. Cela a nécessité de développer des outils efficaces pour traiter de ces questions, en utilisant des recherches capitalisées depuis une quinzaine d’années, et grâce à un effort soutenu en matière d’humanités numériques, notamment les Systèmes d’Information Géographique, qui impliquent des données de même nature et mises en forme de la même façon.
