Nature, culture and history are explained by algorithms from a certain model of thinking and that means too that human life is only computation and processing of information in order to solve any problem. This paradigm reduces consciousness to the brain structures and programs and becomes a social guide that unifies knowledge, desire and power in a big technological automatism. But there are another anthropological theories that understand the human being like a bio-cultural cycle in search of sense, inside a complex view of the homo sapiens-demens and the homo faber-ludens. This alternative definition makes possible an enriched idea of freedom and demands a democratic control of the great technological decisions.
The paper inquires into two philosophical positions, the first one emphasizes the importance of the will and the second one prefers the understanding. These anthropological options are decisive in order to explain other questions (God, knowledge, ethics, nature and history), and have many practical consequences too. After a genealogical exposition, we study the cases of Leibniz and Spinoza because they unify both dimensions but in a different way.Key words: understanding; will; modern philosophy; God; Knowledge; ethics, history.[Recibido: mayo 2013 / Aceptado: junio 2015] 537 ISEGORÍA.
PalabRas-clave: diletante, conocimiento, arte, alegría, crisis, autonomíaabstRact: This kind of dilettante -who lives in the middle of a crisis of civilization-is able to exercise a personal discernment, without fear or frivolity, according to the own circumstances and preferences. It is not a capricious attitude, but a cultivated and joyful one, paying attention to the beauty in finite things. The amateur outline is both ethical and esthetical and it is drawn in a dialogue with Weber, Lichtenberg and Bordieu. On the other hand, we are talking about a mediator -not a specialist-that builds relations between an objective (Steiner) and a subjective (Wilde) theory of art, in order to create an enriching and autonomous way of living, like Montaigne did.
Abstract: The book Los Sótanos del Universo is an excellent exposition of the categories and relations that allow to affirm the surprising intelligibility of the universe.
