ABSTRACTThe purpose of this article is to analyze the ecological footprint methodology. For such, it includes a theoretical review of the theme, while simple linear regression models were employed to identify the degree of association and to explain each independent variable (income, efficiency, use of resources, and population density) in their relationship with the ecological footprint as a dependent variable. The main conclusion was that the per capita footprint is directly proportional to the per capita income. In this sense, income is the main indicator component, accounting for 74% of its composition.
