Resumo -Esse artigo pretende refletir sobre os caminhos da luta contra o Racismo na contemporaneidade, especialmente nesse momento, atravessada pela pandemia do novo Coronavírus (Covid-19), onde as desigualdades raciais tornam-se mais evidentes, enquanto a sociedade permanece em silêncio face ao genocídio da população negra. O presente artigo apresenta a transcrição de uma ata notarial lavrada em Amsterdã no ano de 1604. Tal documento apresenta detalhes sobre o comércio, legal ou não, de pau-brasil em Pernambuco na primeira década do século dezassete.
El artículo presenta y analiza una carta inédita del gobernador-general Diogo Botelho redactada en la villa de Olinda en 1602. El documento revela información desconocida acerca de las capitanías brasileñas, así como de los diversos proyectos que se estaban ejecutando en ellas dos décadas después de la Unión Dinástica. Su lectura también nos ofrece la perspectiva de un administrador colonial recién llegado desde Portugal a Brasil que buscaba conocer las particularidades de las diversas redes ya existentes desde el siglo XVI e interferir en ellas utilizando los mecanismos propios de la economía de mercedes, basada en premios y castigos.
O Arquivo Nacional da Torre do Tombo tem disponibilizado, virtualmente, o acesso aos documentos do período inquisitorial por ela custodiados. Esse movimento tem possibilitado a construção de diversos trabalhos, nas mais variadas áreas do conhecimento. O trabalho ora apresentado, gerado em função do exercício de pesquisa no âmbito da Paleografia Digital, desenvolvido pelo projeto Muitas mãos e várias penas¸ visa a apresentação de estudos realizados com o processo inquisitorial movido contra o negro Pedro João. O objetivo é noticiar a construção de modelos de leitura e transcrição automatizada em língua portuguesa e, ao mesmo tempo, analisar o documento à luz da História da Cultura Escrita e da própria História.
