Childhood needs diverse nutritional requirements. Poor appetite, lifestyle changes, and poor digestion affects child immunity and make them prone to diseases. Kaumarabhritya, a branch of Ayurveda which deals in child and adolescent health care, has a unique concept of Swarna Prashana (SP) to promote generalized immunity and intellect. SP is commonly recommended to children between 0 and 12 years of age and given as a general health promoter to improve intellect, digestion, strength, immunity, longevity, and complexion. Multiple benefits of SP are mentioned in different Samhitas which needs to be explored on scientific background. Authors have highlighted content variabilities, plausible mechanisms, research tasks and potentials, lacunae, and future prospects about SP. This manuscript is a spotlight on current social, clinical, marketing, and scientific information of Swarna Prashana. SP can be a cost-effective, safe, infrastructure compatible, and prevention-centric approach to improve children’s overall health status and has the potential to serve as a positive health care program for children.
Pratishyaya is one among the Nasagata roga & is a complex disease involving several symptomatology and diverse pathogenesis. It is one of the common disorders of children known for its recurrence and chronicity. It could lead to complications such as Kasa, Shwasa then Kshaya if not managed in time. Recurrence of this disease can be attributed to lower level of immunity in children due to Asampurna bala and hence we need such a drug to improve the immunity to prevent recurrence and complications. Vachadi syrup is one such medi cine which serves the purpose, with this aim this trial has been taken up. It is an open labeled clinical trial where 30 children of age group 4-12 yrs with the signs and symptoms of Pratishyaya were enrolled. Vachadi syrup was given in a dose of 5ml 8 th hourly for 4-8yrs and 10ml 8 th hourly for 8-12yrs for 7 days, clinical assessment was done by grading both subjective and objective criteria. Vachadi Syrup shows highly significant results in clinical symptoms of Pratishyaya & laboratory investigations. Pratishyaya is the disease condition in which Vata and Kapha vitiation is observed, Vachadi sryup shows the dominancy of Tikta, Kashaya and Katu Rasa, Ushna Virya(hot potency), Katu Vipaka (post digestion) which helps in alleviating Vata & Kapha by breaking down the pathogenesis. The clinical trial suggested that the Vachadi syrup is effective and safe herbal formulation in reducing the signs and symptoms of Pratishyaya.
The key intends of Ayurveda is to maintain the health of healthy persons and make well the ill health of the diseased person. In Swasthavritta it has been clearly mentioned about Hitakara ahara-vihara and Yoga for healthy life. Amlapitta is a very common disease of Annavaha srotas. In present time a huge population is highly affected from Amlapitta due to unhealthy food habits, mental stress, and inactive life style. This paper investigates the effect of Mudga and Kwathita Sheeta Jala (Boiled and cooled water) as a Pathya- ahara and Yoga modalities in Amlapitta. Furthermore, the combined effect of Mudga, Kwathita Sheeta Jala and Yoga modalities in Amlapitta has also studied. In this present study, 60 patients were assigned into three Group A, B and C (20 patients in each group). All the general observations and results with statistical data of 20 patients of each group were illustrated in the form of tables and graphs. In this study, the therapy of Group C shows better result than Group A and Group B. Hence, Mudga Yusha and Kwathita Sheeta Jala (boiled and cooled water) along with Yoga modalities is more effective to control Amlapitta disease.
