Resumo -Objetivo: Esboçar um paralelo entre a lei da inclusão da pessoa com deficiência e a realidade vivenciada por estudantes deficientes que frequentam as escolas públicas brasileiras. Métodos: Leitura da Lei nº 13.146/2015 e confronto deste documento com reportagens, datadas a partir da referida lei, que abordaram sobre a inclusão de estudantes deficientes. A escolha pelas reportagens do Grupo O Globo ocorreu por este ser o site de notícias mais acessado no país. Para a seleção das reportagens pesquisou-se notícias que tivessem as palavras educação, inclusão, deficiência, escola. Resultados: Os resultados demonstraram que apesar do avanço do número de matrículas de alunos com algum tipo de deficiência, persiste uma estrutura física insuficiente e o despreparo dos profissionais em um atendimento educacional especializado.Palavras-chave: Lei nº 13.146/2015.
