Abstract. The theories of Multiple Intelligence (MI) used in this paper apply to students with interpersonal intelligence who is encouraged to work together in cooperative groups where interpersonal interaction is practiced. In this context, students used their knowledge and skills to help the group or partner to complete the tasks given. Students can interact with each other as they learn and the process of learning requires their verbal and non-verbal communication skills, cooperation and empathy in the group. Meanwhile educators can incorporate cooperative learning in groups in the classroom. On-MITT provides various tools to facilitate lecturers in preparing e-content that applies interpersonal intelligence. With minimal knowledge of Information and Technology (IT) skills, educators can produce creative and interesting teaching activities and teaching materials. The objective of this paper is to develop On-MITT prototype for interpersonal teaching activities. This paper addressed initial prototype of this study. An evaluation of On-MITT has been completed by 20 lecturers of Malaysian Polytechnics. Motivation Survey Questionnaire is used as the instrument to measure four motivation variables: ease of use, enjoyment, usefulness and self-confidence. Based on the findings, the On-MITT can facilitate educators to prepare teaching materials that are compatible for interpersonal learner.
Glossophobia or fear of public speaking is commonly experienced by tertiary learners during classroom presentations. This study intends to examine the speech anxiety level experienced by engineering learners and the relationship between the learners’ English language proficiency and their speech anxiety. The study will also identify the causes of public speaking anxiety among these engineering learners. The samples were 65 Engineering Diploma students who responded to McCroskey’s Personal Report of Public Speaking Anxiety (PRPSA) questionnaire. The students’ English language grades at SPM level were used as the measurement of their English language proficiency. The findings showed the students’ speech anxiety is at moderate level (M= 105.9) and there was a weak negative relationship between total PRPSA scores and SPM English language grades (r = -.149, n = 65, p > 0.05). Mere thoughts of presenting a speech with undue worries of being asked questions were the causes of their speech anxiety. Therefore, it is proposed engineering learners be given ample public speaking trainings through planned programmes and engineering curriculum planners include elements of public speaking in engineering subjects. Purpose of the study: The aim of this study is to investigate undergraduate engineers’ perceptions on the industrial collaboration program. Methodology: This study used both quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis. Based on purposive sampling, 150 undergraduate engineers were selected and were required to complete a questionnaire and participate in focus group interviews. Numerical data obtained using the questionnaire were tabulated based on frequencies and percentages. Thematic analysis was performed to identify patterns that emerged from the focus group interview transcripts. Main findings: Study findings indicate a positive trend in students’ perceptions on the benefits of the program besides indicating a gap in their ability and competency. Thematic analysis based on the focus group interviews reveal three emerging themes which indicate that the respondents found the program to have boosted their confidence, besides being useful and meaningful. Applications of this study: This study contributes to the design of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curriculum, specifically for engineers. ESP curriculum design as well as teaching and learning should include industry leaders’ intervention. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study will be the entry point for employer engagement in teaching and learning as well as in ESP curriculum development for engineers in the context of a technical university.
