O objetivo do estudo foi instrumentalizar a equipe atuante nas Unidades de Saúde da Família para realização do acolhimento e atendimento ao paciente com doença falciforme. A pesquisa foi realizada com indivíduos com doença falciforme atendidas nas unidades de saúde da família de dois municípios do recôncavo baiano. A partir dos resultados obtidos produziu-se um plano de cuidados direcionado para esse público contemplando as principais intercorrências/quadro clínico e condutas diante de determinados quadros sintomatológicos. Além disso, retrata os principais problemas identificados e traça estratégias para sua minimização e aprimoramento no acolhimento desse público. O plano possui grande relevância, pois pode subsidiar a tomada de decisão por parte da gestão e contribuir para a melhora do atendimento dos profissionais de saúde envolvidos e no planejamento de ações locais e municipais contribuindo para reduzir as vulnerabilidades e melhorar a qualidade de vida das pessoas com doença falciforme.
O presente estudo objetivou investigar as vulnerabilidades social, individual e programática em indivíduos com doença falciforme. Pesquisa qualitativa realizada nas unidades de saúde da família em dois municípios do Recôncavo Baiano. Os dados foram obtidos através da aplicação de formulários e entrevista e submetidos à análise de conteúdo temática. Com base nas entrevistas realizadas em 26 indivíduos com doença falciforme verificou-se que a vulnerabilidade social é maior em pessoas do sexo feminino, raça negra, baixa renda e ocupação informal. A vulnerabilidade individual é influenciada principalmente pela variável conhecimento sobre a doença. Quanto à vulnerabilidade programática, as variáveis que melhor explicaram a variabilidade dos dados foram o acesso e uso de serviços de saúde. Fundamentado nos resultados obtidos, acredita-se que a minimização das vulnerabilidades pode ser obtida com o acesso às informações sobre a doença, principalmente a imunização, medicamento e acompanhamento na atenção primária. Conclui-se que, é importante incentivar a criação de associações de pessoas com a doença, para troca de experiências, dificuldades e reflexão compartilhada visando à busca de soluções dos problemas e criação de políticas regionais e nacionais.
A coleta de dados foi realizada entre maio e julho de 2014, utilizando análise documental em prontuários dos pacientes cadastrados no serviço e os dados foram analisados com estatística descritiva. Os dados revelam que estão cadastrados no serviço 357 indivíduos com idade acima de 13 anos; sendo que o sexo masculino apresenta 196 casos (55%) e o feminino 161(45%). O maior número de usuários é solteiro; faixa etária entre 18 e acima dos 70 anos, com predominância entre 25 e 44 anos; a raça/cor autodeclarada predominante foi parda e preta. Foi observado baixo grau de instrução, baixa escolaridade, subempregos e condições socioeconômicas precárias que resultam na pauperização do grupo e esse panorama reflete diretamente na qualidade de vida desses pacientes. Quanto à prática sexual declarada, a mais citada foi a heterossexual; a exposição sexual foi a principal causa da contaminação e a grande maioria possui o status imunológico para AIDS.
