No presente estudo, objetiva-se verificar e analisar, no contexto escolar, a contribuição do professor do Atendimento Educacional Especializado (AEE) na articulação com o professor de sala de aula regular (SAR) para a constituição de uma prática colaborativa. Discorre-se, também, sobre o modo como a prática colaborativa entre professores de SAR e do AEE tem se efetivado no contexto escolar, destacando seus principais desafios. O estudo se baseia na abordagem histórico-cultural da aprendizagem e do desenvolvimento humano de Vigotski. Utilizou-se a pesquisa-ação colaborativa, por sua possibilidade de compreender a realidade vivida e construir conhecimentos conjuntamente, somando pesquisador e participantes. Participaram da pesquisa quatro professoras de sala de aula dos anos iniciais (1º ao 3º ano), as quais tinham estudantes com deficiência intelectual matriculados, e uma professora do AEE. Os procedimentos para geração de dados se deu por meio de sessões reflexivas individuais e coletivas. A pesquisa permitiu verificar que a prática colaborativa entre professores de SAR e do AEE ainda se apresenta como um desafio no contexto da escola pública, principalmente em relação ao tempo, ao espaço e à abertura dos profissionais para o estabelecimento dessa articulação. No entanto, observou-se que, na escola investigada, tem se constituído um movimento, principalmente por iniciativa da professora do AEE, para que esta se estabeleça. Na avaliação das professoras participantes, a prática colaborativa se configura como uma estratégia eficiente na promoção de mudanças de concepções e práticas que favoreçam a inclusão escolar de estudantes com deficiência.
