El Trabajo Social Ocupacional (TSO) se posiciona como un campo de acción profesional que se puede reconocer desde los orígenes de la disciplina de Trabajo Social. Es un espacio vigente en el ejercicio contemporáneo de la profesión, aun cuando no existe una conceptualización clara y posee un limitado desarrollo académico. Partiendo de esta premisa, en este artículo se indaga en los conocimientos y habilidades esenciales para el ejercicio del Trabajo Social ocupacional, articulando las perspectivas de profesionales del Trabajo Social, directivos de empresas y organizaciones públicas y representantes gremiales de empleadores y de trabajadores/as. A través de una metodología cualitativa, se comprendieron las demandas de habilidades y conocimientos que son específicos para el caso chileno, reconociendo sus similitudes y diferencias con otros contextos. A partir de estos resultados se presentan desafíos y líneas futuras de investigación.
