Este artigo discute os principais tópicos ambientais relevantes ao contexto da pandemia pelo novo coronavírus. Por meio de pesquisas bibliográficas de trabalhos recentes e interdisciplinares, foi possível realizar uma abordagem sobre a relevância do saneamento básico no Brasil, assim como as relações entre a pandemia, poluição ambiental e biodiversidade, de forma que, perspectivas futuras puderam ser esboçadas a partir do conhecimento, recursos e conteúdo atual sobre sustentabilidade e qualidade de vida. O artigo também frisa a importância da propagação do conhecimento científico e da realização de projetos de Educação Ambiental visando o desenvolvimento do Brasil e bem-estar da população.
Considerando a problemática associada a pandemia da COVID-19 no Brasil, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo destacar os principais desafios emergentes a serem superados pela sociedade e educadores ambientais para a minimização dos impactos da pandemia e promoção de um contexto pós-pandemia mais justo e equilibrado. Por meio de pesquisa qualitativa, através de consulta bibliográfica em plataformas especializadas como Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) e Google Scholar, este artigo frisou a importância da conservação da biodiversidade e dos recursos naturais para reduzir as chances de ocorrência de novas doenças de origem zoonótica e discorrer sobre os desafios do educador ambiental. Verificou-se que é fundamental a articulação dos educadores ambientais em meios sociais para promover a Educação Ambiental e superar os desafios relacionados à acentuada desigualdade social no Brasil. Não obstante, faz-se necessária a união de esforços para promover a transformação social e melhoria da qualidade ambiental, evidenciando a necessidade de mudanças na administração pública e nos hábitos sociais. Concluiu-se que é urgente o desenvolvimento de uma nova cultura e modo de vida, capaz de ressignificar o paradigma vigente o qual representa um forte obstáculo ao desenvolvimento sustentável.
