COMMENTThe structures of organotin carboxylates continue to be the focus of much research 1,2 while triphenyltin compounds are noted for their biological activity. 3 -6 The structure of compounds such as bis(triphenyltin) oxalate is thus of interest. The centrosymmetric title compound adopts an essentially tetrahedral geometry at tin with each half of the carboxylate ligand acting in a monodentate manner (Fig. 1) Figure 1. The structure of (Ph 3 Sn) 2 (C 2 O 4 ); thermal ellipsoids are at the 40% probability level. Selected geometric data:
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
